Knowing how to react to this event deserves some thought and time.

What must not be forgotten is that behind it all lies one huge fact.

Trump is still Trump. The man who tried to overturn democracy. A man completely unsuited to be the POTUS. A man who some believe is a Russian asset. A man I believe to be a threat to the security of the western world. All the euphoria now swirling around cannot change that but it can, and is, obscuring it.

If I was his campaign manager writing the script of how to organise events the ones of the past couple of weeks would have been right at the top of my list.

Have the Supreme Court announce immunity, have Biden perform badly in the debate, have the Judge in the document trial throw it out, have the Judge in the hush money trial delay sentencing until September. Then survive an assassination attempt, but get bloodied and be photographed in a heroic pose before appearing at the convention.

If you were wanting a series of events to hide all the awful behaviour of the past you could hardly have dreamed of these.

My wife has little to no interest in, or awareness of, day to day politics. Even she though was aware of this, although not the detail. I discussed it with her this morning and her immediate conclusion was it was fixed, by Trump. Her view being that politics is such a dirty game that people will do anything to get to the top and no series of events could happen like that without them being orchestrated. I don’t agree by the way. Whilst the timing of some may have been engineered, and the motives questionable, I think he has just been incredibly lucky. That he will milk that luck is a forgone conclusion.

So how those determined to avoid another 4 years of Trump respond needs some time. The prerequisite seems obvious. Biden must be replaced and a younger, attractive and dynamic fresh face brought in. Someone capable of bringing the focus back onto Trump’s failings and away from his luck, and able to capture the many average voters who like neither Biden nor Trump.

Some time is needed, but not too much. Or we will get a disaster in November.

There is going to be significant upheveral whoever wins in November because the result isn't going to be accepted by the other side....legitimately or illegitimately.

If Trump wins....which is highly probable....there will be riots by the Democrat's foot soldiers.

If Trump is assassinated there will probably be some form of civil war or separation.

Eventually separation is inevitable in America....I've been saying it for years....I just don't see how the polarisation is ended, it's two political tribes speaking two different languages with little in common.

When ChatGPT first emerged I experimented with it, as a source of information, several times and used it here once or twice. When I did I acknowledged that as an example of how it worked.

I haven’t looked at it since, let alone use it, or any other AI programme.
