Total and utter hogwash, there is not a scintilla of truth in your accusation.Suffice to say you suffer from the material disadvantage of being wrong.

The aged gentleman in question was from "Oop North" with a stentorian voice and these incidents occurred in the 70s.
It is the model of plausibility that the phrase which used to raise my hackles was prevalent in his 'Neck of the woods'.

Hold on, in response to a post about stock phrases (key words) that get up your nose (a clear inference they are words you hear now), you make reference to a very localized and probably extinct phrase that you heard from a bloke in his late autumn about 50 years ago?

Now I have heard of holding a grudge, but...

I was falsely accused of fabrication and I repudiated such a claim.
It really was a load of fiddlesticks and having responded to the hogwash I am not minded to spend any more precious time fending off barbs heading in my direction.

It is in the interest of this 'Thread' and it does not descend into a contretemps between posters and that the debate is concentrated on the subject matter.
