Smells like a West Ham signing. I notice they are about to sign a 29yo centre half and talk they are signing Wilf. West Ham have one of the oldest squads in the Pl what are they playing at.

One thing about all the obession with youth is that the prices for unproven players e.g Gray, Bellingham minor, Franca get exorbitant and older players may be more cost-effective. Of course they may all pan out but it could be the pendulum has swung too far

Some teams would never have bought Munoz because he was over 25

True about Munoz. They'd be crazy, though, as he looks like one of the fittest players in the entire league. 0% body fat, and he can run all day.

He's 31, has proven class, knows Glasner, plays in a position we need (lwb), versatile like Schlupp, can get 2 maybe 3 good seasons out of him, wud be great as a squad player competing with Mitchell, knows Kamada ... we can't always look for sell-on youngsters, have to live in the now, sign him up please.

Yes, for the reasons you give.

But him or Gosens? Same arguments apply.

And will either settle for "squad" playing second fiddle to young Mr Mitchell?

I think the need for squad depth and rotation is key if we are seriously thinking of Europe. It isn't enough to have a strong 11 and then backup players to replace them when injured/suspended. We have to proactively rotate and rest players.

So I'm not sure anyone who joins will see it necessarily as being behind Mitchell in the pecking order, rather they are a part of the squad who will be needed to play in multiple matches and maybe even multiple positions.

Rumours saying we've offered 6.8m euros while they are looking for 8m.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

I get that, but let's hope the players concerned do too.
