The role Guehi played for us against Villa was very exciting. Just in front of the back 3, If he stayed he could create a position alongside Wharton that would be very similar to Toni Kroos.
Boldly, he would elevate himself to world status.

I don’t see that to be honest. I think Guehi is a CB and playing a defender in midfield is a big task. Wharton and Doucoure would be my preferred DM’s. Hughes and lerma as back up.

Not saying Guehi couldn’t do it but it takes a certain brain to play with limited time to think as the game is in front and behind you. I feel Trent struggled at times with that against Serbia

It doesn't make sense for us. We have one very good RWB and 2 very good right backs. AWB will not take a big drop in wages so I see no benefit for us to helping Moan United offload players on big contracts.

I think our model is to bring in young players and then you have wiggle room to increase their wages if they perform. AWB would be on top dollar.

I don't think that AWB is a right back though, not in the modern sense anyway. There's no way he could play as our RWB in the way that Munoz does, but I feel like if you slotted him in on the right hand side of Andersen and he moved over to cover when Munoz bombs forward, that could be awesome.

However, yeah it won't happen but just interesting to discuss in theory.

It's kind of comical how the journalists and supporters of other clubs think we'll give up our best young talent for their overpriced mistakes.

Sterling, Manduke, AWB, etc. Goes against everything we've been doing for the last few years.

Think Madueke is hugely talented to be honest, reckon if he came here he could thrive.

It is interested that so many of these swap deals are being mooted though, reflection of those big clubs struggling with FFP I suppose.

I don't think so.

Guehi is an excellent CB, and can fill in as a DCM if necessary, but Toni Kroos he is not.

Madueke is undoubtedly talented but I do wonder if he'd be a disruptive influence (as we know that's why he left Palace's youth team in the first place).

You'ld think someone named AWB would be as close to a good RWB as you could get

No to Madueke.

Seems the guy's a big time Charlie. He was right in there when those Chelsea babies were fighting over who was to take the penalty. A big factor in our staying in the Premier League has been the good atmosphere in the group, whether on a miserable run of form or a good one. Don't want that threatened by a boy who might sulk if he's benched.

I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry.

Arsenal are supposedly interested and they might now see him as a replacement for Partey rather than competing with Gabriel or Saliba for a position in the centre of defence

Exactly. Dougie and his team take great care in assessing the character of potential transfer targets and not just their data stats etc.

There is no reason for us to consider swap deals. We take the full transfer value in cash and buy the players that meet the profiles we're looking to bring in. The Big boys can sort out their own silly mistakes of buying average players at over market rates and paying them silly money.

We're not under any pressure re PSR so we can call teh shots if the Big Boys want any of our players.

Guehi certainly got a grip of it in the Villa game. But you are right. If all our players stay then it would likely be as you say.
