Correct, i would give him a free, if he will go, and save the 5m wages

That doesn't make much sense as you would have to both buy and pay another player. Edouard may not be ideal but he is a reasonable back-up option and there is no-one of his standard, let alone experience, in the Academy

Guehi's injury absense proved the team can easily cope without him. His (so far) refusal to extend his contract makes Palace financially vulnerable to getting less for him than he is worth (or worse, nothing at all).
With a value generally accepted at anywhere between £50m & £60m currently and with no Maguire and injury doubt over Stones Guehi is almost definitely going to play a big part in the Euros. If he performs really well that £50m valuation will likely turn into an £80m bidding war between United, Spuds, maybe even City might enter the race.
For me I think Parish is doing the right thing in being patient and keeping quiet. Once the Euros are done and Guehi has played his part I think selling him to the highest bidder is a no-brainer.
Worst case scenario we only get £50m for him (unlikely). Even with that amount we have funded incoming signings, put some money in the bank for Glasner to use in January if needed and it keeps the club well inside FFP while takes all pressure off to sell anyone else, effectively enabling the club to keep the rest of the team together.

I agree with this.. how I view it, is this way... If he were a west ham player and for sale this summer, we would not be looking at him.. out of our range and would be a luxury defender we don't quite need. If the attacking players were all available, we'd be jealous and wishing we could compete..

So in short, wonderful player that could net us come quality additions in his absence.

Agreed . From a player point of view, he seems o have nailed a starting position. Let's see what the rest of he tournament brings. He might have a stinker, or get injured, etc

100% this. He’s already played his last game for us and we’ve signed his replacement already. He’s in the shop window now so hopefully it becomes a bidding war.

As we saw last night Guehi was by far and away our best defender. He’s mobile can pick a pass and is lightning quick to get us out of trouble. Stones got turned and outpaced a few times against Serbia.

Finally Guehi seamed to get some plaudits, and win the pundits round.

With the England pundits/commentators, it seams as though until you have earned your stripes with England, they presume you cant do it.

He's had a full season in the Championship, 3 seasons in the prem. Won the U17 World cup, final of the U17 Euros. Captain of his club, captain of the U17s. He's calm and confident and great with the ball. Why is the starting point that he might struggle to step up?

All the pre tournament chat was about how weak we were at the back, and how we'd miss Maguire. The same Maguire that hasn't been trusted for 2 seasons now, kept our of the team by full backs, and Jonny Evans.

Really struggle to get my head around it

Maguire had his injury problems last season and spent about 2 months on the sidelines as a result of 2 separate injuries. He is an experienced English International trusted by Southgate and had he been fit he would have partnered Stones in defence.
