The most senior civil servant at no. 10 in a pay grade which starts at £127,000. But sure, he's just a schlepper.

An MP who is a PPS is not a civil servant. Did you not watch Yes Minister?

There is probably only 4 people in politics who just by being present can rally people to their cause.

Boris Johnson
Nigel Farage
Jeremy Corbyn
George Galloway

Everybody else in politics might as well not exist.

Seeing Farage leading from the front has invigorated what was the most depressing & flat GE in my living memory.

Now I am happy to see the populist centre right finally get a foothold similar to what we have been seeing spread across Europe here, We have a very real chance of replacing the Tories as the main opposition & I honestly think we will do it.
However this movement is only as effective or as strong as Nigel Farage, if he walks in 5 years/murdered before then with no real successor this whole movement is dead and will take decades if at all to rebuild.

I'm hoping beyond hope there are people within the movement who have the talent to carry on the ground work that is being laid today.

The mountains are calling & I must go.

From The Institute for Government.

Traditionally, the most senior civil servant in No.10 has been the prime minister’s principal private secretary (PPS). In recent years, the PPS has been appointed at a director general (SCS3) grade.

Whether or not he's personally a Civil Servant it's hardly a bag carrier.

To quote starmer “ there will be no personal tax rises”
Which means there will be other tax rises which will affect you personally but because it’s not directly on your wage slip it fits his line. Greasy socialist dick wad.

I stumbled on the last 15 mins of the ITV “debate”:last night. I don’t watch such things as they seem to be just a pointless ritual we must go through at election time.

Farage was on it. As he seems to be on every such show. I wouldn’t vote for any party he was involved with but if I needed any convincing that this guy is an empty headed, dangerous populist something he said last night would have convinced me. He argued for more referendums to “let the people decide themselves”. So much for Parliamentary democracy then! Here comes capital punishment and sinking small boats.

Then I read this morning that there is growing evidence that there is foreign interference, via social media, in this election. This time to try to direct votes to Reform. Just as happened during the Brexit vote, with support provided for Leave.

Why, and who would do that? Whilst this time no linkage has yet been established, during Brexit it was traced to the Russians. Why seems to be to create more division and upset in a western democracy. They have done it in the USA and elsewhere before, and doubtless were active during the recent EU elections.

Bots are posting multiple messages, all very similar, under fictitious names, which are not being screened out as they should be.

Reform themselves are unlikely to be involved, but they are benefiting from it.

He is being honest. Whoever gets in will need to raise more tax. That’s inevitable. The Tories promising tax cuts are just lying. Which they can do, because they know they don’t have to prove it.

Starmer hasn’t lied, but he has been economical with his words. It might be regrettable but it’s politics.

Yep. They all stick to the same line and its always the same. Will there be tax rises? 'No rise in income tax, NI, or VAT'.

In other words, council tax, car tax, fuel tax, airline tax, travel insurance, car insurance, home insurance for those disgusting car drivers and home owners. Corporation tax, shares taxation, a pensions raid via taxation (again) and any additional tax they can dream up.

All of this will have the effect of reducing GDP the exact thing they say they will use to fund it all.

Its a whirlpool and the only way is down.

Still hanging on to the Brexit was only because of those pesky Russians.

Populist parties are on the rise throughout Europe because people don't like what the elected and unelected politicians are doing.

That is the reason we voted to leave.

And its the reason we are seeing Holland, Germany and France seeing a rise in populist parties.

As has been said. Nigel F is the ONLY one of the slippery gits that actually answers a question and doesn't deflect.

He is a statesmen, the others are slim balls.

It's good that you are finally showing your true colours.

Starmer will be taxing the better off by stealth to pay for people who do nothing and waste money on useless projects, just like Labour always do.

I am voting for real change, not just a slogan.

I'm hopeful that Reform can start eating into the labour vote as well as the tory vote. Since Nigel F took over the numbers have been steadily increasing. Once the polls show that they are above the tories it may start to happen.

Interestingly, the polls are across the UK as a whole. It seems that Reform is already on par or ahead of the tories in England.
