Listening to talk$hite , grealish, maddison dropped, but them not being around lowers moral, they are good tourists, they get on well with the players, bring a bit of fun to the camp, there was a suggestion that embed a former player for that cheerleader role, without wasting a squad place.

The tabloids had a field day blaming Hoddle for not taking him but with the benefit of hindsight Hoddle was correct. Gazza had his opportunity to prove Hoddle was wrong but I'm afraid his performances post WC showed he was a spent force.

Back to today's squad and apparently Grealish and Maddison were part of a Whatsapp group with other England players. It read like whose who of bad boys including Dele Ali.

Southgate has gradually got rid of this lot and maybe that was the sensible thing to do.

As for morale the best way of improving it is by playing well and winning games not texting your mate about some bird you picked up .
