So far, what I saw was how different England play to Palace.
We are dynamic fast lots of quick through balls to expecting runners and loads of shots on goal. Basically bloody exciting to watch.
England are very technical, slower at advancing and longer build ups in attack.
Im not knocking England, but Im not sure Eze quite "fits' into their style. His bursting runs, flicks passes etc. maybe is not quite what Southgate wants.
Guehi was not quite on the wave length either, whereas against Villa, he played a great game.
Wharton.....well as many have already said, played some sublime quick simple but piercing passes that led to scoring attacking moves. What a player. Adapted well to the England slowboat. He is going places.
Will be interesting to see what happens v Iceland.
As a Palace fan, I am so happy we got Glasner. What a super positive difference he has made to our whole approach. Our players, their mentality, their fitness which has helped lead to exciting football, goals and results. Long may this progress into next season and beyond.
Can't wait. We are suddenly such a pleasure to watch which after all is what it is all about especially the way we win and keep winning.

Good post, can you imagine what Glasner would do with the England team with the Players at his disposal,

I had the same thought a while back. He would make a great England manager. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen too soon!

A quote from the post match interviews

Southgate ... singling out another substitute, the 20-year-old Adam Wharton, for praise, saying: “He’s got that ability to see a picture. I think he showed in that cameo what we’ve seen in training.”

I only saw the second half so missed Eze's best bits. However Wharton looked comfortable recycling the ball whilst the rest of the team looked pedestrian. He reminds me of Ray Wilkins only more attack minded.

It's a pity that Wharton and Eze didn't start .

That’s actually a good comparison, Ray Wilkins was always so calm on the ball in his prime and never miss placed a pass

More follow up from Southgate on Wharton from the bbc

Meanwhile, Adam Wharton made a promising debut from the bench and Southgate said of the Palace midfielder: "He played as he's trained. He receives well, he's very composed and he plays forward, which sounds simple but is not a simple thing to do.

"He plays a lot of one-touch football and can see a picture when the ball arrives with him. He's had a really good few days with us."

I'd agree on Eze not fitting, but thats exactly whey he needs to go. He'll be used as an impact sub when boring the oppo into surrendering hasn't worked!

That's great to read.

I always think that players like Wharton are only really revered by people who get football. It looks simple, but as Gareth saying having a picture in his head, and having hte touch to execute immediately is quite rare.

He's the opposite of Trent, who whilst has a great long ball on him, likes to receive the ball looking down, take a few seconds looking for a ball, and settle for passing back.

Just about sums up my opinion on all things dwr, albeit it is just my opinion.

I'm not a massive 'hater' of Southgate but he is hardly a great manager. He may well fit the mould for the FA but we (England) are/have been reliant upon a squad of very good players to get a job done under a manager with very limited influence on our play. This reminds me of Hodgson's time at Palace, there's about 5% focus upon the manager/strategic approach and 95% upon the players to deliver.

With Glasner, the onus for me has shifted away from the players/individuals and more toward our general style of play when it comes to my confidence in the team. The thought of one or two being in or out is not the be all and end all, the system matters more and has far greater impact upon that we see on the pitch.

This is why Palace were and England are so slow/short on ideas. Leaving the XI on the pitch to essentially get the job done themselves very rarely works seamlessly. The quality of the players this nation has at it's disposal will get us somewhere, but the lack of a manager effectively steering the ship will see us fall short of any glory.

It still feels fleeting to me but I am extremely grateful for us having Glasner at the club and will appreciate it for as long as he is here. I empathise fully with the Frankfurt fans now and understand why they still love him so.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
