Quite. There was a period when we would have killed to have him fit. He would have got a dozen starts and could have grown into the role; and all for what today is a very modest £4M.

Saying on transfer news that the deal is done,

Article says:-

Crystal Palace finalise Chadi Riad deal

We exclusively revealed on Wednesday that Crystal Palace were close to finalising a “complicated” deal to sign Chadi Riad – the complications being that Barcelona held a buyback clause.

Now, however – according to Fabrizio Romano – any creases have been ironed out, with the reliable Italian journalist even giving this deal his trademark “here we go” as a seal of confirmation.

It is said that Riad will sign a five-year contract running until the summer of 2029, after Crystal Palace and Real Betis shook hands on a €14m (£12m) agreement.

We can sign a pre-contract agreement to come into effect when the window opens, subject to medical of course.

The window opens on 14th June so the (presumably pre-contract agreement - see NOG's post) should take effect then.

Pelligrini has confirmed he is not in his Betis squad this weekend as he is having a medical, so looks like this is happening.

I heard, that he is a Real Betis player, but Barcelona receive 50% of any sell on transfer fee.

My understanding is:
1. he is on loan at Betis from Barcelona with an option to buy for 3m euros.
2. Betis are triggering that option
3. Barcelona will get 50% of Betis's profit on the deal with us.

That will leave Betis with about 6m euros for or towards a player they want to buy.

His new contract probably achieves that so no need for a big bonus.
