Can we believe what we have seen in the last few games ?
If we can then " empty your pockets" and take 500/1 with
Corals/Ladbrokes to win the league next year.
Leicester did it .We can.

Over the final seven games the team has accrued 19 out of a possible 21 points, Since 1995/96, when the 38 game season was introduced, this feat, or better, has now been achieved 15 times (5 of which have been by Liverpool). Leicester in 2014/15 lost to champions, Chelsea, in the run-in but did get 22 points out of their final nine games

In 13 of these cases, the team finished in the top 3. The exceptions are Palace this season and Newcastle (7th in 2005/06)

The following season (so obviouly excluding Man City and Palace from this year) the team finished in the top 3 on ten occasions with Liverpool also slipping to 5th and 7th, whilst Newcastle only came in 13th in 2006/7

To me pretty much the only downside of the recent upsurge in form & results is that we have kind of shown our hand a tad early, next season we wont be quite so much that "surprise package" that we might have been - of course opponents will still have to work out what to do about this new found "in your face" style of play that we are adopting.

In the grand scheme of think I think we can all live with that in consideration of having witnessed / been part of the last 3 months or so.

For anyone interested who hasn't looked at Villa's fans' forum (and has a better way of using their time than I have), here are some of their views:

Too many injuries - our first-choice XI would have won.

The players had been on the lash all week.

I couldn't care less - it was a meaningless game.

Manchester City wouldn't have allowed themselves to lose 5-0 if they'd had a meaningless game.

It was embarrassing.

Could have turned out differently if the ref had given a penalty for handball by Andersen.

Palace are a good side.

I hope their team gets dismantled before they get even better.

I think we should go for Eze.

We should go for Olise.

We need a big summer clear-out.

(At least there wasn't any of the indignation and sense of entitlement that other top teams' fans show when they lose to Crystal f****** Palace.)

I have nothing but respect for those stances/sentiments. Fair play.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

"Would" not "could". Has the poster not heard of 'The Butterfly Effect' for goodness sake?!!

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Every so ofetn something happens that reminds you that you are getting old.

For the Villa game on Sunday I decided to don my old Palace retro shirt - a copy of the one we wore in the late 60s - claret with thin light blue stripes ( see attachment).

I was surprised that a number of Palace fans thought I was a Villa supporter. To be fair none were aggressive. One woman at Selhurst station after the match looked at me and said "I bet your fed up with that result". I had to point to the words Crystal Palace that appear on the shirt.

In my mind this strip doesn't equate to any recent Villa strip, and the shirt I was wearing is a fairly commonly seen on Palace supporters.

I guess I just have to accept that the days of claret and blue being traditional Palace colours have long sine gone.

You should have denied it was a replica and boasted about still being able to fit into it.
That was a good shirt - wasn't the away one the same with the colours reversed?

Well it was Villa who gave us those colours and supported our admission into the league so...

Some thoughts after the Villa game:-

I have a soft spot for Aston Villa (not enough to take the shine of our crushing win though) I seem to remember Aston Villa being very generous with the gate money when we played them on the FA Cup after we went into administration.

Having watched Palace since 1961 I have enjoyed the last four home games more than anything I have seen in the past, it's amazing how after a win in style the journey back to Hertfordshire doesn't seem that far.

As for keeping the team together, why would anyone want to leave the Palace when we are on the verge of something special/

Romantically we all like to think that our best players will want to stay at Palace but the reality is that these young men will be offered a chance to earn a lot more money than they are being paid right now.
They have a short playing career and Eze, Olise and Guehi know that better than most after recent injuries.
If they stay then it will be because we have given them massive pay rises I suspect.
Just been listening to Barry Hearne and at the end of the day it is about money as much as enjoyment - sad to say.
