He must have been good: he won trophies with Spurs.

I have very mixed feelings about Venables however as mad as it sounds the seventies were truly great times to be a Palace fan. Despite the successive relegation’s Big Mal put the club on the map and Venables continued it until his inevitable departure to QPR who had been courting him for sometime. The midweek visit to Wrexham will forever stay in the memory of all of us that were there. You really had to have lived through it to understand why it was great fun particularly if you were a teenager through the seventies.

When my Mrs told me on Sunday that a former Palace manager had died, I asked who? can't remember she said, but ex Spurs and England. I said Mullery, but no such luck.

Perhaps it was a mass delusion and never actually happened. I was sure Ian Wright played for Palace but he doesn't seem to think so. Ian Wright seems to have a problem with Palace, the club that took him from obscurity to fame and fortune ....
