It hasn't, because it's never been properly funded in England. In Scotland, different story. And like Portugal and drugs, it works.

I haven't looked into it but let's just say I'm skeptical...Advocatess of these things tend to highlight success but ignore negatives.

I would have to look at a balanced pro and cons of those situations not just someone batting for one side.

Where's Oprah when you need her to give everybody a car.

I guess there's just no poor people in Japan.

Less murders and serious crime per proportion in Victorian England in far worse poverty than today.

There seems to be an obvious answer....but for the life of me I just can't work it out.

Oh look I fibbed.....the answer is solved just by opening my eyes.

Simple answer, dont have kids with fathers who won't stay around. British Indians came here with nothing and they seem to be doing just fine. Education is free. Its really not hard. Go to school, do well.

Lots of places in Europe are p1.ss-poor and have a relative lack of violent crime.

the US/UK are relatively wealthy......and often inner cities are very violent.

did the authorities yet release the identity of the stabber ? surprisingly slow, isnt it ? It might be difficult to 'memory hole' this shocker. What are the chances he has a background from a very violent country ? a 50% chance ? or higher than that ?

and how does a girl recognise a committed Father type ? maybe if he buys her a bunch of flowers ?

and 17 years ago, did his father stick around ?

a successful Society cannot carry a massive cohort of absentee fathers....look at the countries with the Murder-statistics. Eg Kingston, Jamaica - which Ross Kemp called the 'murder capital of the World'.

To be prejudiced is to hold an opinion that does not stack up with reality.
So maybe the stabber is an aspiring medical student with family ties to Reykjavik, Iceland. Statistically one of the safest cities in Europe. And maybe his Father is also a NeuroSurgeon who stayed around during the childhood of the stabber ?

so which scenario is more likely ?

This murder has sickened the Nation. Not your usual Drug dealer killing other drug dealer stuff.

Lads, imagine if you murdered every girl that has ever dumped you ?

Wait untill he's a responsible age, is he on the dole ? Does he sell a bit if weed ? If yes then he probably isn't responsible enough to have kids with. Its really not that hard. If the welfare state didn't exist, I'm sure women might just be a bit more selective.

Whilst I agree with you on the work hard aspect, the education system is a complete shambles in this country compared to when the group you are referring to came across... you only need to know a few teachers in the state system to understand the issue. The brightest kids get the attention and others that are perfectly capable and would do well in the private system get (understandably) marginalised. In that system working hard doesn't give you the same outcome as someone of equal potential in the private system, for example. And the gap has never been bigger

Re. 'don't have kids with fathers...' if only life was so simple and we all had the answers. If everyone had future vision then it would all be fine

Lots of places with high crime rates in the UK (such as Hartlepool) that are 98% White British. The commonality is deprivation – sure culture can't be ignored in some cases but it's far from the only issue. Certainly not enough evidence to say that it is, and certainly not enough evidence to say it definitively.

If you focus just on London and you identify as a right leaning individual then I can see why your view is skewed, though.

With respect, you can't keep referring to one country out of several hundred. An anomaly doth not make the case

You have to look at things in the round. Plenty of murder and serious crime globally and with varying ethnic emphasis. Again, just focusing on London and Jamaica isn't really a particularly well constructed or strong argument. It does however suggest a long established, predetermined POV on this subject. That much has always been obvious

Equally critics of these things do the opposite. It does puzzle me often that the same people that criticise and dismiss well-researched sources of information from one source then jump straight into bed with one they do agree with ideologically, with little of the same critical analysis.

Your unwillingness to cross check that twitter post is a great example – because you agree with their political angle they get cut some slack. Not particularly aligned with the usual claims of 'independent thought' and critical thinking. If anything that's more 'sheeple' behaviour, which is bizarre considering how defensive you lot get about your trusted sources.

Just because someone is independent or agrees with you ideologically or politically doesn't mean you give them a free pass. It's hypocritical in the extreme
