In his three full seasons at Brighton, the club finished 15th, 16th and 9th and only his final full season did they finish above us in the PL.
I for one do not view Potter's record at Brighton in such a glittering light. As someone commented to me yesterday "Nothing to write home about".

I’m with you Willo, I liked him, but not sure about us having him, we’re just not suited to all that tippy tappy pass pass pass stuff . We have enough trouble scoring goals as it is. Remember Potters Brighton had 50 Odd efforts at goal against us a couple of seasons ago and we still took 4 points off them.
I have noticed recently we do shift the ball forward a lot quicker now, Guehi and Anderson do less ‘Titting about’ with it in front of our own goal which is a god send as we always seemed like a f*** up waiting to happen.

I really wish this was sorted before the last game of the season.
I wasn't there on Sunday so I dont know what kind of reception Hodgson got. But with the possibility of him staying on another year this has left us fans unsure if this was the last time we would see him in the Palace dugout so may have muted the send off somewhat. So yet again we miss out on truely being able to say thankyou and goodbye.

At the game, I heard a number of comments from those in my vicinity with the consensus being that if Mr Hodgson's was definitely remaining in situ an announcement to this affect would have been made to provide clarity for supporters.

Some opined that perhaps the club was planning to engage in talks with him after the season had ended with a view to remaining in the managerial hotseat. Others opined that the club wanted to move on to a new manager.

Mr Hodgson had inferred in interviews prior to the game that no talks about his position had taken place and inferred afterwards that he had not been offered a position.

You need to factor in that he took over a semi sinking ship when he started at Brighton. They were on the brink of relegation at that point in time. He's clearly progressed them as a club and a lot of credit for this seasons 6th place finish must be attributed to him for their great start.

We're more advanced now than what Brighton were when he took over. If we can get gradual progress and work our way up the league a few positions, that would be a fantastic outcome.

He's had a solid CV and has done the hard graft overseas to get to where he is today. He's not a Frank Lampard/Steven Gerrard who are clearly out of their depth and landing jobs based on their names.

For a big club like Chelsea to sack Tuchel in favour of Potter shows how highly he's regarded. He won't get a 'Big 6' job any time soon, so a club like Palace could be a good fit for all parties.

I would imagine Spurs, Everton and West Ham would all be interested too.

He'd be my first choice out of those who realistically available. I also would be happy with Roy, but think if someone of Potter's calibre is available and interested, it's a too good a opportunity to turn down.

Potter could be a good appointment, i quite like the guy, seems honest enough, but ! there is always a but, a run of bad results, boy would he get some stick, he will never get a honeymoon period, for the Brighton connection, although at my age I still don’t view them as our rivals, that is and always will be Millwall

I fully accept that the season before Potter took up the 'Reins', Brighton finished 17th under Chris Hughton just 2 pts clear of the relegation zone.

I accept they progressed under Potter but not to the extent where I wish to bow in reverence before him !

He was found out at Chelsea, we don’t need a manager, that can’t manage at a big club.

As was Roy at Liverpool and Inter Milan.

Some managers do very well just not at big clubs Lennie Lawrence was other one.

Potter will do fine for us if he comes.

For me, I have a season ticket & will go along regardless, I enjoy the day out, obviously its nicer when we win or at least play well.

If its going to be Potter in charge then so be it, he managed Brighton, so what, our beef was with that prat Mullery, a lot of water has gone under the bridge since then, we had Glen FFS Murray & that worked out OK-

I like Potter, a thinking mans manager, maybe he is too much for us & maybe it will turn to rat s*** but I have no issues with giving the guy a chance.

Just my tuppence worth.
