Truss is under the cosh at the moment from other Tories because she wants to CUT tax.

People need to let that sink in. A Tory leader in trouble from people supposedly on the same side because she wants to put more money in people's pockets.

This tops even the trans lunacy.

She isn't either in trouble because she wanted to do that or, especially, because what she did wouldn't achieve that.

She is in trouble because of her short-sightedness and lack of tact.

If any benefit from tax cuts is more than wiped out by increased inflation and interest rates, even higher than is already baked in by the international situation, then people won't see more money in their pockets.

The labour party must accommodate the left imo, the post-war revival under Attlee was largely driven by the left.

COYL

We agree, I think he should fully embrace those in the SWG

I agree with your comments. Considerable self control is required in order not to respond to some of the total rubbish written on here.

I now think best way is to ignore and the self indulgent, deprived of an audience here may hopefully seek self satisfaction elsewhere.

Imitation etc, thank you. The great Oscar was spot on again

I agree it's a strange situation, but nowhere near the lunacy of gender identity politics

Some Tory MPs have recognised the mistake installing her as their PM and are trying to oust her before their party becomes involved in a car crash at the next general election. Her unfunded tax cuts are ill timed and she doesn't have the luxury of time to learn on the job. I doubt even a series of U turns will save her because she's out of her depth. They'll find her a seat on the back benches and bring in the replacement.

Tell me how reversing tax cuts helps them win an election? It only plays well with people who don't vote for them in the first place. This is what I struggle with so much about the 'Conservative Party'. They implement policies that their own voter base loathe. This entire gay marriage into trans bulls*** has come about under a Tory led government.

Senior tories behind the scenes want an election. They don't want to be in power anymore. They want Starmer, and by default Labour, to take the blame for pushing us back into the EU and the BS around net zero. Might even be happy to stay out of power for 10 years.

You do though like a nice juicy conspiracy theory don't you?

Reversing the tax cuts is the only way the Tories have of not losing the next election so badly they aren't even part of a coalition. The Tory MPs admitting the mistake,, blaming the electoral system and installing Sunak and Mordant, could demonstrate they have our best interests at heart and are capable of taking action. That could save them. People respect honesty.

This wasn't just predictable, it was predicted by me, and many others. Promising tax cuts to a specific electorate to achieve her goal of becoming PM was the kind of thing we have come to expect in this age of populism. Going ahead with them once her feet were under the table was the height of stupidity.

I said this could be the shortest term of any new PM not to die in office and that our MPs must take control. It seems probably I am about to be proved right.

We faced an awful couple of years whatever policies were followed. Truss just made them worse. A Sunak/Mordant leadership would be free of the blame for all of that now, and could very well take the country with them through these difficult times.

Getting rid of Truss now seems inevitable and I expect that to happen soon. With Starmer having all the charisma of a plate of cold chips, the Tories showing they are serious, determined and acting in the country's interests could win the next GE.
