He was never a 'go along to get along' type of operator, more adept at pointing out that the Emperor has no clothes, which is why as a former owner, he makes the perfect pundit and presents a view of the national game shorn of all the tinsel and ribbons and spin.

When he was owner, I admired his stance in many ways against all the jackals that tried to feed off the club. It wasn't just agents and bolshie players, he also had a few run-ins with the FA and wrote some choice articles about them in ongoing spat when he had a column in The Guardian (?). Upshot was that he became quite unpopular among the establishment and when the club became highly leveraged he walked on a knife-edge.

It was a shock when we went into administration no doubt and would have been interesting to see how the club would have developed with his plans. My take - I think we would have remained a yoyo club for many years due to lack of outside investment and new owners have managed to tackle this, hopefully for a healthy future.

It was an interesting crusade that SJ fought in the noughties and makes him a fascinating and credible pundit. His critique of the breakaway league and the FA due diligence on owners have been highly illuminating in recent months. If he comes back to part ownership of a sports club in future, I don't think it will be here again.

I couldn't help but like the guy although of course it didn't end well for him.

But he was only a few minutes away, at that infamous game at The Valley, from being in a position to sell the club on with Premier League status intact. Which was his intention.

After that it was a case of throwing good money after bad, chasing another promotion.

He would also have benefited from having co-owners with him I think.

I'm always interested in what he's got to say and I'm glad he's found a platform to get his views across !

My view on SJ - thank heavens for Steve Parrish. After supporting this club for over 55 years we have finally got someone at the top who cares about the club and know what he is doing

When CPFC2010 they organised a creditor meeting which was open to all creditors from small local suppliers upwards - SJ attended.

He may have spent £32m on the club in total (not sure where that figure comes from) but he definitely wasn't owed that amount. Firstly, the purchase was about £10 to £11m i think so that money was 'lost' the moment we went into administration.

I am told on the accounts the amount owed to him was £7.8m so he got 1p in the pound on that.

I do remember he also stumped up c£1m when we went into administration to make sure we had sufficient money to get us to the end of the season.

Paying his under qualified brother £500k a year was a strange choice

I thought it was the administrator who organised the creditors meeting. CPFC 2010 didn't get involved until the end, just before the administrator ran out of money and liquidated us.
