As far as I can see Palace are not signed up to paying the London Living wage. Looking at the sheer size of wages we had been playing to vrrage and injured players it seems a shame we cannot as a club sign up to paying staff the London Living wage. Over to you Mr Parish to do the decent thing.

A few years ago my daughter enquired about selling programmes at Selhurst and was offered a job. I can't remember the pay rate but I do recall that it was insulting. She declined the offer. How much do the fans pay to watch a home game? £25 a head on average? That's £625k per match. In the context of that figure the cost of paying these people a reasonable rate would be negligible.

In all fairness, we did entirely the right thing throughout Covid. But the mind boggles at how much Wickham must have earned.

Palace are only one of 6 premier league clubs who have signed up to this. Pretty shocking really.

I clearly was not looking and apologise unreservedly for this error on my part. Well done to all who put this in place. But one of only 6 PL clubs? Shame on the rest.

I seem to remember, at the time Palace were one of only two or three PL clubs. Although 6 isn't enough, it's going in the right direction.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Back in the 70s I was paid 1p for every programme I sold. I sold at the top of the away end terrace and got between £1 and £3 a game,a free programme and free entry for me any anyone else I wanted to get in (the last bit was unofficial). All fun and games until Dirty Leeds came to town. I gave up as life was too short for that sort of s***.

I remember early 80's someone I knew got a job as a programme seller at Palace, gave a false name, collected about £300 and went home.

Some employers pay the Living wage but are not signed up to the scheme because of the bureaucracy surrounding it. It's not just your employees but also your suppliers / temps / contract workers etc. It can be a bit of a pain calling a company for a one off job and checking that they pay the living wage. So plenty of companies out there that follow the salary scale but just haven't enrolled in the scheme. Edited by Badger11 (05 Aug 2021 4.21pm)
