Unlike the previous signings (Van Aanholt, Sakho, Benteke) who are all contract up at 30 years old and nowhere near the same value, we've secured Guehi until 26, Olise until 24, apparently Andersen until 30... They're actually sellable assets so although it hits the balance sheet, we'll likely come out cash positive on these signings.

The truth has to be that Benteke is paid too much - but that's not a comment against him. All Premier players are overpaid and everyone knows that. Financial Fair Play was introduced because it was obvious many years ago that all clubs are spending money that they don't have. They found that Manchester City may have broken the rules and then reversed the stance. So all the Premiership clubs will carry on spending a ridiculous per centage of income on players wages and image rights etc etc . I don't have the answer but it is a problem that no-one is going to tackle.

If anyone saw that Fans Reform article on the BBC sports app the other day ( maybe a couple weeks ago) in season 18/19 9 Premier League clubs made pretax losses, and 8 clubs operated with a wage to revenue ratio at or over the level (70%) considered

Here is the wages for 2021 Roy Hodgson’s squad lacks depth having only 21 as first-team players due to the lack of funds at the club. Palace even failed to progress in either of the two cup competitions. This transfer window is crucial for the club as they need to address the aging squad and sign some young players. They already started that with the signing of 19-year old England U-20 right-back Nathan Ferguson. Check: Crystal Palace Squads 2021

Any forensic analysis of these accounts is meaningless as we will never see the whole picture as much of the ownership structure and flows of money are through opaque structures or ones who do need to either not draw up accounts or not publish them. But looking at just these figures we are as are most clubs insolvent and just goes to soow there is no industry quite like football.
