From the few clips I've seen of the squad training, they seem to do nothing but crossing and finishing, attacking three v twos, and all the other basic attacking practices. I'd say that fits in with what we know of Roy's methods, that he coaches defensive shape, and allows off the cuff individual play going forward, which in our case equates to each individual standing still wanting it to feet before they dribble with it. I would be very interested to see if a new coach would work on attacking patterns of play instead - not guaranteed to work, but different to what we do now. On PVA, yeah he was offside and VAR didn't need to get involved because he missed and the ball bounced back off him for a goal kick, but the replay showed he clearly was off. Which is piss poor really, as he was the widest player and could see all along the line and didn't need to go early. He didn’t go early, the pass was way too late. If you’re coming from that far back at speed you don’t want to have to check your run as you lose any advantage.

Firstly he wasn't making a run from deep. He was stood still outside the box before he made a ten yard run. Secondly, he could have curved his run to stay onside. Luka did delay the pass a bit, but it was there for PVA to do so much better than he did. One thing I will give him is that he had no obvious square pass on once he did get in. He had to go for goal himself, as Benteke was surrounded by defenders.

Reece Hannam perhaps? I'm hoping this guy gets a chance this season, a lot more attacking than Mitchell and when he's been a bit suspect defensively in the last few games Hannam could pip him into the starting 11 next season?

Benteke offered the best (only) decent movement in the box I've seen from him for ages against united when he threw a couple of defenders off the scent before attacking the space to meet a low pull back. Then he swung, missed completely and fell over, as the ball ricocheted off his standing leg.

Far to much generalisation goes on regarding this subject. Only 1 team in the league have a better goals per chances created ratio than Palace and that is City. Our problem is creating chances not finishing them.

This is very true Eddie, although in the second half we had two good chances that we we didn’t put away. What was Tekkers doing in the 18 yard box, no one around him and he completely mis -kicks. He had all the time in the world and we had Man Utd pressed back for periods.

PVA played a very good game and I hope he keeps this up, he did brilliantly to put himself into that position to score so as far as I'm concerned hats off.
