My guess is that a number of clubs, including CPFC, will use this opportunity to shift players off - probably off to anywhere in order to try to bring logic to the wages bill. One of the newspapers suggested James McCarthy to Rangers and that would not surprise me. Batshuyi must wonder if he will ever fit in at Chelsea - new manager there. So it looks a bit like Chelsea had wanted to offload players. Maybe its a recurring theme. Still money coming in from Sky but clubs aren't getting money in from hospitality or merchandise. So will clubs balance the books by shedding players. Palace look likely for 40 pts this season - so does the club need to sign players before June?

You make some good points but in answer to your question, I would say yes. With so many players out of contract in the summer, we really should try and do some more business in this window. We are crying out for a young central defender and a top quality midfielder. It would make sense to try and get some of this done now, rather than leave it all to the summer.

Agreed, but we may need to offload some as well. Weekly outgoings remain an issue with the relative size of our wage bill
