Is SP going to give a comment on all transfer rumours going forward ? Seems a little odd !

Yes seems strange for SP to comment on transfer speculation unlike him to do so.Think there must be a bit of a poker game going on with Us Sheff Utd and Liverpool ?

Parish has only denied make a formal or informal bid.
Doesn’t mean we are not interested in Brewster and I wouldn’t be surprised if still he ended up with Palace.
Hodgson is still talking of wanting a striker as a priority whether it’s Brewster or another player.

You honestly think Parish would come out and comment on this if we are actually interested. How many times would he have had an opportunity to do this before? Doest make sense. This has actually never added up to me. Last season when we were linked with Brewster Roy said we wouldnt be able to offer game time to a young player such as him.. not sure Roy would have changed his mind. yes I know hes scored some championship goals last season. I think this has put to bed any rumours we had interest in him. Of course I could be wrong, I am no ITK.

you can spin the denial several ways:

1. Face value, we were never interested.
2. Face saving, we realised that we couldn't agree a deal so pulled out.
3. Poker face, we are in negotiations and don't want Liverpool to think we are too keen.

Spoke to a Liverpool fan (from Liverpool who goes to games).
His assessment is that he is a talented youngster, but one who will never make the first team squad. And £20m is a price only a mug would pay.

SP said it was pure fabrication from START to FINISH.

To me that says that even our interest is potentially complete BS.

The clever move when it comes to Brewster is a loan deal with an option to buy. As exciting as his potential future may seem, £25m for a player who’s had little time to show how consistent he can be is a risk for a club our size.

It does sound a bit unlikely that we would be prepared to pay that kind of money for a striker who has done ok in the championship but nothing more although having said that we paid a lot more for Eze than I thought we would.

Ha, just seen that Parish has spoken out again on Twitter. Just like I (and probably others) were saying, Sky's 'correction' earlier was a typically weak retraction and just acted like they had jumped the gun on an offer for Brewster as opposed to the complete fabrication that it was.
