We are currently is a position of stalemate - clearly the directors want to move in different directions. We have a young striker that we own who has had a difficult time with us and has gone away found his confidence by those having confidence in him and has kicked on. He looked useless to me I must admit, outside of his debut against Everton away I think it was where I was hopeful he has struggled. We are not in a position to ignore his form, albeit in Turkey if there is still an opportunity contract/agreement wise he could return. He sounds happy over there, maybe he’s found his level but he won’t be the first player to move elsewhere and kick on. If we can reap the benefits of that why not. We’ve done that for countless other clubs so why not take advantage for ourselves.

I'm pretty sure Gayle was pretty good in the PL both for Palace and for Newcastle. He was excellent 1 league down, but still good in the PL. Scored more than Benteke anyway. Agree 100% about one league down, his stats speak for themselves. Those who have seen him play a lot in the PL would probably agree he has struggled for consistency right at the top level.

The old expressions are pretty good and there is one that suits Sorloth (and Dwight Gayle come to think of it) down to the ground, "horses for courses". The PL is not where their strengths lie. With Gayle it was one league down. With Sorloth it appears that the Turkish league suits. We may of course be proved wrong in the future with Sorloth but I would be very surprised if that were the case. Good post. Sell while ahead.

Totally agree, he seems to be the perfect Championship striker but there is something about him that managers don't fancy in the PL. Newcastle weren't playing him when they were in desperate need of a goalscorer. May be attitude/workrate problem, who knows.

Sorloth looks good on that youtube video of him in Turkey, but then he looked good in the youtube video of him in Denmark before we signed him. Perhaps Palace are wrong about him, perhaps he justs needs a bit of belief and a different tactical system to be a good premier league player. If so, Palace are in good company, as nobody else in the league bid for him, even on loan. Looks like it's not just us who doesn't fancy him. Edited by TheBigToePunt (27 Jan 2020 1.30pm)

I don't want him back but can we even recall him? He is on load with an option to buy (I think) that implies that if his new club match the asking price we have to let him go?

I don't know why he is the subject of criticism. We are not set up to exploit the talents of our strikers. I am sure Benteke and Wickham will flourish with other clubs who have a decent midfield and attacking wingers which we lack.

That players are different beasts when they feel believed in & confident and find their feet in a team. Sorloth doesn't have to hit their heights to become a much more valuable asset. "Sorloth heads the ball funny. He's s***." "Sorloth looks a bit lost. He's s***." No. He was a player nobody believed in. Nobody knows what he could be with a bit of faith and perseverance. If he hadn't played for us, we'd be desperate to sign him. The truth is, we just don't know what he's become while out on loan. Edited by Ginger Pubic Wig (24 Jan 2020 2.39pm) Spot on

Time to move on. He won’t be coming back and it never worked out . Horses for courses. Robbie Keane didn’t work for Liverpool but no one can say he was a bad player. Sorloth didn’t look good at all at all for the time he was with us.

Scored again last night against Fenerbache. 16 goals (albeit in the Turkish league) this year. I know it's clutching at very large straws but are we even allowed to recall him??

Does make you wonder about those 3 that Benteke could have been on the end of if he had any natural born striker instinct. What would Sorloth had done?
