Would provide an extra option both at CB and RB. Fingers crossed!

Not the fastest of player especially as a right back option. There was a lot of hype about veltman a couple of years ago. I'd prefer kenny Tete. 21 and a more suited wingback.

That's 3 different articles I've seen him linked to Palace in the last day or so (not that any rumour means much these days)...Be great to have a reliable centre/right back added, definitely - maybe the Ajax connection will swing it...

I would add one on ones against pacey players to Ward's weaknesses

Lets hope we will skip Joel. Just because he has done ok in the eredivisie and is in the national squad does not mean he would be what we are looking for. Errant prone, often gets stupid cards and not really a RB though Peter Bosz played him there last season. Surely the rumor Spuds being in from here were fed to the press by his agent as no way in hell he is good enough for them, and afraid neither for us. I would much rather see Tete join us.

Joel Ward's critics are harsh. In my view he doesn't have that many poor games and I would consider him solid. Always, always puts in a shift. He's intelligent, he knows his own weaknesses and adjusts his game when needed. How often is Joel Ward injured? Value for money. Big time. He's not the best, but he's fine. Get off his back.

Joe Hart looks angrier than a kid with no Easter eggs, David Silva looks like he won't smile for a week. Vincent Kompany has taken his shirt off and looks like he might just start a fight with himself. The visiting dressing room will be a glum place.

Potentially we could get Tete RB and Veltman CB for close to £10m.

Amazing value but whether Ajax would allow both to leave is another matter

I'm appreciating your thoughts on this and other potential FdB signings, Johan.

Keep them coming!

Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune)

Could not disagree more. One of our most consistently poor players. He has a terrible reading of the game and is often forced in to making recovery tackles and blocks that look decent because he dives in and bombs forward at the wrong time. He isn't fast, he doesn't have a decent cross on him and he is poor on the ball. He has kept his place by virtue of the fact that there is no competition, but ultimately he is just not good enough for the first 11. He is a hard working player with a great engine and athletic ability. But he is in my opinion far and away the worst footballer in the 11. He is certainly good enough as a decent back up but really needs replacing sooner rather than later.
