Craig Moore was excellent, but better than Sakho? Not sure about that!

I know he only played a handful of games (similar to Sakho I think)...but Matthew Upson on loan in the early 2000's was quality. I think he was coming back from injury and Arsenal wanted to get him game time...I remember him being immense in the few games he played. Nod to Herman the German from our 98 prem season as well.

Sakho would hold his own / would be class in any of the top sides throughout Europe - don't think we have ever had a centra half that could do that? From his short time here and I've supported Palace since 68, he is the best I've seen for us.

Do you mean Hreidarsson from Iceland? Always had a soft spot for him but apparently he was relegated from the premiership with a record 5 different clubs.

I have seen just about every player mentioned in this thread and saw Jimmy Cannon play many times. None of them though come close to Sakho in my opinion. He is a class above. He seems to be able to see things earlier and make the interventions just that little bit more effectively. Truly world class and a joy to watch, which is unusual for a defender. He is also a natural leader who organises and encourages. On top of that he appears to be a genuinely nice man. I don't know how many of you saw the way he treated the little lad who was the "mascot" he was leading out on Wednesday but he was lovely with him. Chatting away, explaining things, guiding him and general making sure he had a great experience. If we can get him, and it is of course a big "if", then he would be a wonderful addition to the squad. I think he really appreciates the reception and appreciation he has been shown. I think he feels at home and that matters.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Probably wouldn't make many peoples top defender list cos he didn't play that many games for us, but Steve wicks was the best I've seen in a Palace shirt.
has resisted writing a single post on the Ross McCormack thread !!! |

World class. You said it. It's a pleasure to watch him for all the qualities you have noted, Wis. For pure class, although in a different position, only Lombardo comes close in my opinion and even then, not that close. Always remember, in the few games he played for us, Paul Warhorse being a class player. Although I can't remember if he played CB.
