Fox hunting, like synchronised swimming, is downright unnatural and ought to be banned.
It was my dream to play for Palace and to make my debut. I've always played for the club so if I'm playing here, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. - John Bostock (Nov 2007) |

If you read the pro-fox hunters arguments, they are so contradictory its almost laughable "The government is wasting too much parliamentary time on this" So the government forces the bill through parliament in one day, and the response from the countryside alliance "This is an outrage, the government should allow enough parliamentary time for proper scrutiny of the bill" Fact is this is the third time this has come before parliament since 1997, the debate has gone on and on, with the same result-the settled will of the British people is to be ban fox hunting. You might not like it but that is democracy-next year you can change the government if you want fox hunting back

Quote redacted Poor example methinks. As far as being gay, it's not something you can encourage, as people do not choose to be gay, they either are gay, or they're not, it's not a choice, fox hunting is.Of all the arguments I have heard pro fox-hunting, tradition, is the worst. Just because people have always done something, doesn't make it right. Otherwise women still would not be able to vote, and we would still have hanging in this country. Also, does it really provide jobs? I had always thought it was a sport or hobby, not a job.Edited by Palace Pat (17 Sep 2004 4:14pm)Edited by Palace Pat (17 Sep 2004 4:14pm)Edited by Palace Pat (17 Sep 2004 4:15pm)

To be honest, I don't think it should have been banned. What's gonna happen now, people are going to start poisoning them and they will suffer looking for water. Having horses myself, I know how much some people enjoy the atmosphere etc, at the end of the day, a lot of animals are killed at other times in different ways, it's part of the English way of life, but it seems we're loosing our culture!

And, also, what is our culture? Lobster-red yobs in Ibiza? Snarling hooli's in Portugal? Roustabouts rampaging through Croydon after a last minute penalty defeat to the Gauls? Upset Toff's staging a PR stunt by acting like idiots in the cradle of democracy? Edited by matt_himself (17 Sep 2004 5:08pm)

But I am sticking by my statement that the government seems more eager to avoid treading on the toes of minorities than caring for its own culture. I'm not in the least bit sentimental about the abolition of fox hunting, in fact I'm in favour of it but my point is still valid. Edited by Matt_Hep (17 Sep 2004 6:27pm)

The idea that hunting is for the 'toffs' of this world is a very common missconception, most are farmers, farm labourers, farriers etc. I wonder what people will think when farmers have to resort to poisoning, trapping and shooting as an alternative? All methods which often lead to long agonizing deaths.

Aparently 15,000 dogs will have to be put down if the sport is banned, so the animal rights activists don't win either way. Incident that i saw that winds me up (that hasn't got that much to do with this - oh well: I was in London walking past one of those stands that they stick their posters of dead foxes etc on, and get people to sign petitions against animal testing, and an old (65-70ish) respectable looking bloke said he didn't want to sign it. Just because he refused to do something that went against his beliefs, one of the female activists started laying into him, and said: "Perverts like you probably like the killing of animals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" What the f***! Shut up love! Good to get that off my chest. I also like i h8 steve bruce's points aswell: who cares what they hunt? Onlt a bunch of c***y animal rights dick heads. It's just a matter of who you hate more. A load of pompass t***s on horses or a load of whinging animal rights protestors.
Don't care for foxes much nasty little things, one growled at me on my paper round (so i kicked it - self defence honest) so I'd side with the pompass t***s on horses for this one. Edited by rob_selecta (18 Sep 2004 3:46am)
