I saw a report from either Gold or Sullivan with a quote from them saying that Palace are going to be paying Benteke silly money.

He came up with the same line when they failed to sign Austin last season.

Makes me think that this deal is pretty much done. It seems like it's being drawn out by Liverpool being greedy. We all now CPFC2010 are happy to sit and wait out a deal rather than rush and get ripped off.

Reading this Liverpool blogg reveals that Benteke missed quite a few 1-on-1 sitters last season that they are keeping very quiet about. One thing for sure is their supporters are generally very keen to off-load him onto us. So maybe the deal not going through won't be a bad thing? Hey, we've still got 30+ million to spend on some decent firepower.

Liverpool tried to feed him goals and it didn't work. Benteke thrives on battling it out with defenders and figuring out/trying ways of beating defence and keeper. A lot of his goals at Villa were headers from high crosses or shots lashed in from loose balls or moves starting from the halfway line, as they were a good counter attacking team, especially away from home, ahem, like us.

He is not top club material but he is a very very good player for our level. He is going to regret not moving if that's what it comes to.
