I honestly get that, believe me, I don't want to be checking this thread every 3 minutes either but still find myself doing it. It just winds me up how unrealistic people are, I'm pretty sure that if this deal could have been done by now it would have been.

I get the impression that the top European clubs are not interested in Benteke especially on his LFC year and his price + wages. I am convinced that he is unhappy at LFC and wants to play for Palace. I also get the impression that his agent is a bit of a pr1ck. So, given all that, we can just hang-on to our millions and he and his pr1ck agent can just W.A.I.T. Because I don't think clubs are lining up to buy him and I don't think he is the ONLY option for Palace. With our current squad I can't see us being in too much trouble next season anyway. With a Benteke or similar I'd be hopeful of top 6.

Perhaps but the amount of people writing "Let's forget him and move on" doesn't really strike me as that.

Realistically none of us have the slightest idea what is going on behind the scenes and other than a tenuous quote from a clearly financially motivated agent, we have heard nothing from any of them.

He would be an unbelievable signing and if it takes another week or a month, I'm not bothered if it means we get him.

I have total confidence in SP's well acknowledged negotiating skills that we will make exactly the right call on this one. Whether that means that we will get our man based on a fair & reasonable deal for CPFC only time will tell
