...just wondering what people's most hated Christmas song was. Shopping at supermarkets has been a miserable experience lately, and the over-crowding and irritability are exaccerbated by some of these tired old festive favourites - Last Christmas by George Michael, Slade, Johnny Mathis, Boney M, Kim Wilde, Mariah Carey, Greg Lake, I can't stand the Wizard song either, Bruce Springstein, can't stand the Band Aid song either (but fairplay to them) but for me and it's not spectacular it just encapsulates all the depressing dreary banality ... Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin' Stevens.

Yeah I hate that one too. Any decent guy wouldn't have left his Mrs slaving away in the kitchen on Christmas Eve when he really ought to have been mucking in. Not only that, to boast about it while someone plays the kind of music you hear in DIY shops in the background is really rubbing it in.

I was rather hoping his Mrs would release a song along the lines of: "Wrapping up a turd for that b****** Chris Rea, I've drunk all the good gin, one of the kids has third degree burns, my parents were right I could've done better".

I know it doesn't rhyme by the way, but I imagine if you are an abandoned woman during the festive period who had been promised the glamour of marriage to a celebrity, the last thing on your mind is a coherent set of well crafted lyrics.
