Peter Berry played on the right wing and his brother John played for Man Utd,also RW,who suffered severe injury in the Munich air disaster.
Obviously Peter was away from the club, for a short while, but when he returned he said that his Brother was very ill so he would be retiring.
They set up a sports shop in Aldershot.

........................Then along came Johnny Byrne! and the rest, as they say, is history.....................

Living in Brighton back in the early 80s there was an occasion on which a group of us decided to drop in at a pub we didn't usually frequent.

Serving behind the bar was the pub manager - you could have knocked me down with a shot from Doris when I realised it was a certain Mr William Glazier, custodian of the sticks in the early/mid 60s.

Of course it was pretty well given in the 60s/70s that professional footballers, on retirement, became publicans so in one sense it was not that sensational. However, being a budding keeper myself when Bill was at the Palace he was my first Palace hero.

my mate K Dare keeps up to date with Super Jerry, and alas the rumours are true.He often asks me if I hear much about Martin Hinshelwood as he was one of his best pals.
