This post has been merged from a topic called 'Going to Millwall - on a serious note' by Penge Eagle Ive read what other people have been saying about going to Millwall on Monday, and quite frankly, have become a little worried. I have never been to Millwall away before, and so I dont know what to expect. Is it really not safe to go? Surely the police presence there would be enough to prevent any trouble occuring around the ground, and at particular spots, such as local train stations? Just as a precaution I would not be wearing club colours.

Ive read what other people have been saying about going to Millwall on Monday, and quite frankly, have become a little worried. Just as a precaution I would not be wearing club colours. Is it really not safe to go? No, not in my opinion. The New Den is one of the grounds I've never had a problem with and last time I had to walk from Surry Quays, through THAT estate and into the Cold Blow Lane end. It's the same as any football ground/street/pub etc, if you want a fight, you'll get one, if you don't, you won't.

If you are looking for trouble you will find it but like most of us Palace fans it is so easy to avoid it!! I really can't see it being that bad anyway since last season there is so much police presence

seagulls4dinner-Not every palace fan lives In South Norwood!!!! some of us,In fact, a bloody lot of us live a lot more than 6 miles away!!! I've been to Millwall away plenty of times over the years,but I just don't fancy this one!! If me thinking It's just a waste of a good bank holiday makes me a bad supporter In some peoples eyes then so be It, because quite frankly I don't give a monkeys!!! I'm a stripey Nigel and those millwall fans burp and fart and shout rude things at us!!

I'm going to the Rotherham game, but I really can't justify two 300 mile trips on Bank Holiday trains in 3 days. It wouldn't matter whether we were at home, Leicester was my nearest fixture, and they've gone up now. I won't go to Milwall for one simple reason, I won't put any money into their club. Every club has a 'troublesome' element, (Wolves and Rotherham spring readily to mind), but no other club celebrates it like they do. Decent clubs and supporters detest thuggery and violence, all Milwall has done is banned theirs from home games (for how long ??), which expalins why their home attendance is so low, but their away support is disproportinately high.

Jamesy has this right. Millwall fans still wait outside to sort out visiting fans. Nobody seems able to sort this out. I wonder how many of these thugs go to the game now. Fear of being done in by these people I am sure outweighs worries about how our team might go on the pitch. Millwall must lose a fortune out of this. Ps from october to february I reckon I missed one game so I can be arsed thankyou very much

I wasn't looking for a fight when I left the away supporters end at the Den in 1996(?) when we thumped them 4-1, Matt. Even though I was well over 50 even then, on my own and not wearing any colours, the neanderthals were waiting and indiscriminately attacking anyone who walked out of the Palace section. The police sat on their horses and watched. I was sincerely glad to get away from that in one piece and, apart from a few summer friendlies, have never been back. Echoing what has already been said on this thread, no football fan should have to suffer that sort of behaviour.
