The circumstances leading up to this strongly suggested a plan B to get rid of Trump.
They tried the conviction. Biden clearly not fit to contest the election. The writing was on the wall.

Problem is, they missed the target.

Because I am attempting to discuss the cause of the divisiveness? When identifying it and eradicating it seems essential?

I subscribe to Gab and routinely receive Andrew Torba's diatribes, most of which are extremely divisive in nature. I received 2 today, the second of which was in reaction to yesterday's event. It's far too long to repeat in full but these are some paragraphs from it. Whatever your political beliefs might be it must surely be plain to all where the divisiveness in the USA is originating:-

"After tonight's events I have come to the realization that I no longer want any association whatsoever with any liberals. None.

Not in the community, not at church, not anywhere. The reasons for this decision are rooted in the belief that being around these people poses a threat to our sanity, safety, and families. These people are insane and in associating with them we allow their madness to infect us.

In these tumultuous times, it is more important than ever to remember President Trump's inspiring words from tonight as he got up off the ground: "Fight! Fight! Fight!" as we continue to battle for the soul of our nation, our culture, and our people. The forces that seek to undermine our values, traditions, and way of life are relentless, but so too is our determination to preserve and protect all that we hold dear." 

It's this attitude which lies at the root of the problem in the USA and for which I see no obvious solution. People are living in parallel universes.

No, it's people like Wisbech Eagle that are the root of the problem.

Specifically it's his demonstrated TDS on this forum that are illustrative of why murder was attempted of a presidential candidate.

This guy is morally repugnant and always has been. He relies on the right's respect for free speech to troll it. It's ethically parasitic behaviour. The BBS would have banned any right wing version of him after about two posts.

Yes fair play to the BBC for actually doing it's job. To say my post was silly is clearly ridiculous. Plenty of MSM outlets reported that he "slipped" or "fell".
