So far, what I saw was how different England play to Palace.
We are dynamic fast lots of quick through balls to expecting runners and loads of shots on goal. Basically bloody exciting to watch.
England are very technical, slower at advancing and longer build ups in attack.

To be fair to England, How often to Palace have to attack 'well disciplined' defences which we have to break down? England have to do it all the time (and as such you would have thought we'd be better at it!)

As for the Game, Eze had a great first half. One thing I did notice is that on a couple of occasions he tried his 'pass forward and run on' expecting the quick return pass, as he does with us, but it seemed as his england teammates weren't on the same wavelength. Hopefully that'll come as he plays with them more. Scintillating runs. may have played himself onto the plane. Gonna be tough playing him instead of Foden, however.

Wharton did very little spectacular, but he roams the midfield and keeps things ticking over, playing forward when possible. He plays Simple really well, creating space for others with his choices of passes. Saying That, I thought he played within himself a little and kept everything safe. he did one (amazing) cross, almost as though that was his only option. I wanted him to try a little more sometimes. What was clear is that he's a very Intelligent player when on the ball.
Defensively he hassled a lot, but never seemed to win any challenges.
I think that maybe a spot in the squad is a little too far off for him right now, but only just.
Guehi didn't cover himself in glory, but then he's barely played this year, so not sure what people expected!

TAA looked poor for the first 30mins then grew into the game. Looked much better at right back.
Bowen was invisible first half but got better when Kane and Grealish were introduced.
Watkins simply doesn't work against teams who sit back and defend. Kane was so much More effective, but he'll be better vs sides when we counter more(which won't be many).
Grealish and Kane changed the game when they came on. Grealish just runs with intent and causes a lot of problems against tiring defences. He's a 60min sub, not a starter.
Quite liked the look of Konsa. seemed to be able to play across the whole backline, was involved a lot.

It'll be interesting to see what team is selected vs Iceland? a first team practice or more Auditions?

Absolute rubbish, Eze is and has been the best English player for 18 months, it is not his fault he has had crap managers, in two years he will be, as i have bored everyone about he will be in the top 5 players in the world.

Don't get me wrong, I have always loved Eze and think he's amazing, but Foden in particular was operating at a different level in the run-in for City. Eze is still a bit careless in possession at times and his finishing needs to improve. If he was Brazilian I think he'd be a better fit!

I think a case could be made for all four of our players to go.

Henderson won't play barring injury so his inclusion is probably the least relevant.

Probably the same for Guehi, who looked a touch rusty last night I thought, but that's understandable given his lay off. He should be first reserve for Stones / Maguire.

Eze clearly offers an ability to carry the ball and get out of tight spaces that I don't see anywhere else in that squad. Last night will only have helped his chances.

Wharton, as Alan Nixon, said on Twitter, is the best forward passer in the squad. I really hope he starts on Friday and gets a proper chance to influence the game.

Unprecedented times for us. We will probably never have this many England internationals at one time again.

With Messi, Ronaldo and Zlatan obviously out of the picture now, Eze only top 5 Lanzo?

I think Southgate should absolutely know who the final 26 are by Friday morning and therefore none of the 7 who will miss out should be playing against Iceland.

In terms of Palace, Marc Guehi will go even though he was poor last night. He must start against Iceland to give him more game time and he needs to find some confidence quickly as Maguire is injured and may not make the first game. He is also better than Maguire but he does need to show that. His central defensive partner should be whoever is the other back up centre back for Stones. Even if that is Dunk.

Gomez should start left back if he is the cover for Trippier / Shaw. And Trent AA should start right back to illustrate why being on the right is his best position and stop all this nonsense about being a CM.

That is because Wharton should start on Friday to prove he is the centre midfielder Southgate has been waiting for. I hope he plays Rice and encourages Rice go get forward on some buccaneering runs while Adam keeps the ball moving quickly from the deeper position.

Southgate will no doubt start Grealish on the left. Eze to come on and see if he can be an impact sub. Neither have much chance of starting in the tournament.

Means Maddison stays at home. And so I think should Conor Gallagher if that is what is needed to make way for Wharton. I still think Conor is best at the intense press and playing as an AM. But there is no space for him there and I don't think there is any 'plan' that involves him doing that in Southgate's team.

Wharton fits right into the favoured Southgate role that previously Dier, Phillips, Henderson occupied. Only he can do it much better with quick, accurate forward passing. What Southgate needs to realise is that against most teams you don't need two deeper midfielders. Rice should be breaking forward at every opportunity.

Foden, domestic games, goal every 158min, assist every 380m
Eze, domestic games, goal every 199mins, assist every 369m
when you consider the managers and players each had, not a lot of difference, Foden is man made, Eze is natural, put a yellow and green top on him and he would be playing for Real Madrid

Not exactly unprecedented as we were well represented in the early 90s with the likes of Wright, Salako, Gray, Thomas and Martyn. Of course, now the team has players representing other countries

Certainly a big difference from our first spell in the top division. Kember was the only one who got a sniff and that was only U-23

I'll alert Vinicius Jnr to pack his bags to make way!

Regardless, the longer Eze is at Palace the better. I'm just looking forward to your projection that JRS will be better than Olise...

Only Nigel Martyn was in the Euro 92 squad though, so if we do get all four of our boys in this Euro’s squad it will be unprecedented and quite an achievement for little old palace

Also, I found it hard seeing Dunk in the team...it must be even worse for Brighton fans right now seeing our players not just playing but getting the plaudits!

We have more players in our current squad who have represented England while playing for Palace (six) than Brighton have had in their history (five).
