The left are only interested in things that are negative about their own country (if of course they recognise the place they live in as their own country). All they do is to try to undermine Britain while placing their allegiance to an undemocratic European grouping, or to some bunch of terrorists. They were the same in the 1930s with their slavish admiration of Stalin.

But fitting into my own conspiracy theory about how this entire Tory implosion has been deliberately engineered for the purposes of giving Labour the majority it needs to get us back into the EU.

With that return sold to us on the basis that only by rejoining the EU can we 'take back control' of our coastline as a EU wide response comes into play with regards to this invasion by illegals. And with her constituency on the front line, then this BS that somehow Labour hold the key, making even more sense if you accept my narrative.

The key to this 'defection' is to look back on it in a years time and see which job Elphicke has ended up in. That will tell you all you need to know. Cannot see it being a charity/NGO so reckon some Think Tank is the carrot being dangled. Or the lecture circuit. But she will be a rich lady. That much is a definite.

Anti trans? You mean protecting safe spaces for women, protecting children from radical loons and acknowledging the facts of biological sex?

Anti union? You mean not caving to absurd wage demands or bowing to self serving, politically motivated union bosses?

Stricter protest laws? You mean stopping the same old far left fruitcakes disrupting people's daily lives with idiotic protests.

Rwanda policy? You mean attempting to halt the invasion of illegals who are costing the taxpayer millions and represent a risk to personal safety and national security?

Right wing? So presumably, left wing means just letting them continue to arrive in their thousands and do nothing.

Brexit right wing? I thought Corbyn was staunchly anti Europe until he sold his soul for votes.

I really fear for Britain under Labour. Anyone who thinks that things can't get worse is deluded.

Labour certainly a broad church with this strange defection.

But if she can do the job, on housing, so be it.

Labour must restore its core vote and the muslim labour vote, if it is serious.

Khan handled the Gaza issue without losing votes, Starmer did not.

Favouring one side is not on, imo.

Kudos to Labour as it is a political headline but I do wonder what the local Labour party supporters feel about it.

During Brexit a Tory defected to the Lib Dems much to the glee of the party hierarchy. However at local level they were furious.

- They had a perfectly good candidate who had narrowly lost to the Tory at the last election and they felt he would go one better at the next.

- The local Lib Dems hated the Tory MP because he was quite obnoxious during the previous election campaign and now they were being told he was their man.
