Same old underwhelming and complacent window (no doubt others will bang on about how we didn't lose Olise etc, but luckily his new contract was facilitated by not using the money set aside and not used for Wilf's improved one).
No loans
1 free transfer
1 player signed injured
Need at least one full back and a forward (& if we wanted the guy Ekitike from PSG, why was it left to the 11th hour ??), yet we get another goalkeeper (for a lot and having let Butland go on a free) and another centre half.
Freedman, Director of Football ?? Money for old rope.

I'm not one to sulk but I thought we might land a few exciting signings this summer. Makes it all the worse seeing that seaweed bunch down the road signing the "new Messi" from Barcelona (FFS!) today. OK, only for one season, but bloody hell...

I try to remain as positive as possible but when we are going to be starting Schlupp at LW wing again, Zaha has left and we've only signed an untried attacking teenager in the forward dept., who's injured anyway along with Olise, it's hard not to feel a bit aggravated. We've scored one goal thus far, and that was against a Sheffield United who look a very good bet for relegation. I struggle to see where more goals are going to come from in the foreseeable future.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

holding for tomkins
henderson for guaita+ butland
franca for zaha
lerma for Macarthur and luka

aren't our priorities basically just getting someone in for those we lost or will lose next season.Holding seems like a clear indication that this is Tompkins' last season. had we been able to get one of our 5 goal a season strikers out , we would have replaced him with better.

Yup. We have brought players in that can be part of the first team. As much as I loved Zaha there was no doubt in my mind he was way past his prime. He wasn’t worth what we were reported to have offered. The big unknown is the injured kid. But our record in the transfer market has been excellent in recent windows. The important thing for me is we haven’t sold any of our best players.

Of course what am I talking about! Abysmal memory!

TBF though our CBs slide tackling the ball into the opposition net hardly seems a promising strategy going forward.

we scored 4 in the cup we played arsenal and brentford what did you want 10-0 to make you happy , we have 4 points lost 1 to a pen , we beat Sheff utd , man city with haaland only got 2 against them so tell me how bad is our start , I will take 1-0 win every game , in match's the point is to stop the other team scoring and getting a goal simple really , doesnt say you need 4 goals to win just score more than the ops
so stop the Negs and enjoy the season we will have a good one COYP

It should be Holding in addition to Tomkins and you can't really include Butland as he effectively left at the beginning of last season when we sent him out on loan.

Franca for Zaha is an interesting one as we have replaced one of the most feared attackers in the Premier League with a young kid that hardly played in the first team in Brazil and has no experience of the Premier League at all. Inspired signing or Sorloth mark two. Only time will tell but if we hadn't bought him we would have had the money for Ekitike or Sinisterra

The moaning here is so predictable but completely undeserved. We aren’t owned by the super rich prepared to chuck money at anything. Would you want that?

In my lifetime we have come from the 3rd Division South to being an established member of the best league in the world, with a team capable of giving all others a run for their money. We have 3 players selected for England and others being suggested who are worth the stupid money that today’s market commands. We have a world class academy operating in a great catchment area and with plans to expand our historical ground.

Transfer windows are never easy. Deals require the agreement of several parties often with others also making offers. This isn’t popping down to Tesco’s and buying a jar of caviar. If you have only got a small budget and not willing to use your credit card then maybe a can of beans will need to do. They often prove more nutritious than caviar anyway.

We’ve done well. We have held onto key players and signed a couple of solid ones and one potential. We have a winger who has done well on loan looking as though he will get time to now establish himself.

Enjoy the journey.

Yes, we all wanted more attacking options, but knowing that SP and DF only tend to spend where there's value for money, we're going to have to trust their process.

Also worth considering that we have a very expensive main stand to pay for despite the majority of the ownership group either wanting out, or being unsettled.

SP has to take the long-term view, and gambling £30m on a new striker which may not affect league position, and subsequent merit patients, might arguably be seen as unjustified.

Assuming Luton, Sheff Utd and one other fill the bottom three this season, you'd expect us to have enough to not be that third team. So emotion and short-termism aside, of there are no decent options about, why not save money for future windows or the main stand?

It was my dream to play for Palace and to make my debut. I've always played for the club so if I'm playing here, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

A club our size can only ever have short-termism, we will never have a sustained period of success. We've got a great spine which just needed strengthening in a few more positions. Then we could have had a real challenge this year. Just seems like another season, we will settle for staying up. Will sell a couple of players next year and use that money to strengthen the rest of the squad and see what we can do. Massive opportunity missed for me and lack of ambition from the board.

IMO the moaning isn't about the money we havent spent, its about what we have purchased.

Which ultimately ends up in us having to play Shlupp left wing for at least the first 2 months of the season, perhaps much longer.

Spending 20m on a keeper feels excessive for us. We could ahve got 2 full backs for that, or a decent winger.

There was some good value to be had in this window, and our games thus far have shown that we are going to struggle to score. Others managed to bring in good attacking options on loan on deadline day (e.g. Origi, Sinisterra)
