Lerma and Doucoure are good players and give us a sold look.
However, this is at the expense of our attacking play.
Essentially we're playing two 6s and one 8 rather than two 8s and one 6.
It makes Eze easier to mark and leaves him isolated which could be a problem in the absence of Zaha/Olise.
Until we get more flair in the team I would like one of Lerma and Doucoure to sit and the other to break forward.
They could alternate in this regard.
We have excellent central defenders who don't need 2 sitting midfield players in front of them.

Only because he had Odegaard 1-0 Arsenal on his acca.

We played ok in a game of few chances, after the penalty went against us Arsenal spent the rest of the game time wasting. It’s a shame Edouard can’t head the ball as that looked like our best chance. Glen Murray would have buried that opportunity!

Best thing about tonight was when the Arthur was lit up in red and blue with the clock.....Thought it looked superb, back to how it should be.

Great to see the Red and Blue stripes and the clock back on the Arthur Wait - still no sign of a centre forward however!

Not a bad performance against a side that will again be title contenders. They have quality throughout the team and a quality bench. Our bench sadly is lacking and the first 11 requires strengthening so that some of tonight’s 11 make our bench stronger. Schlup being one of them. Final ball and half chances let us down and perhaps more urgency in getting the ball into the box quicker was needed. Ayew is playing as well as ever but lacks a good final ball. Appreciate he made Sheffield goal but tonight he messed up a few. Edouard also had a chance with his head that he messed up. Good performance but could have done better.

There was no bias, theirs was a penalty, Eze just got squeezed out and fell. Their sending off was very harsh, Ayew conned the ref.

I agree with these comments, I would have taken a 0-1 loss at the start.Annoyed that the seven extra minutes should have been more as more time wasting was going on.

We just need attacking reinforcements. Schlupp was anonymous, Edouard barely got a sniff and Ayew played well and is always industrious but never really has an end product.

When we get Olise back our deliveries will improve but we still need a striker who can take them.

It always feels like we're so close to something good and never quite get there.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Rak-Sakyi was better than I expected. Based solely on today, I'd keep him around.
No one was particularly poor. Our final ball and forward runs off the ball aren't good enough. We're clearly not good enough wide meaning teams can force us to try and play through the middle. We're continuing to play out from the back but we're too slow on the ball. Defences have time to get back.
When we break - there's no one lurking in the box. So many balls go across to no real oncoming attackers. We're always a yard behind the ball.
I'm probably in the minority but think Edouard is improving - very technical. If he can get a bit more direct and link up with Ayew, they could act much more as two up top. Edouard robbed defenders a couple of times in this match and in the previous match. Looks like he's worked quite hard - relatively, for him. Still the head drops and he stops trying around the hour mark and starts to drift.
The whole team needs the confidence of a couple of goals. Shame we didn't score today or more in the Sheffield match. Eze never fully fired today - he may have been better to dive less obviously but that's life. You wonder do we work well enough on set pieces - as usual. Bad free kicks happen I guess.

My view:

We were lucky to escape 1st half 0-0

I initially thought Ayew had a penalty. But great tackle.

We shut off, but when he kickicked the ball wasn't at all toward the goal. Why give a penalty to someone kicking out?!

Sending off on a 2nd yellow was a travesty.

Eze was the only one going to score and they knew it. Frustrating...

They gave all the room in the world to Mitchell. Should have subbed him off.

We were solid enough but a horrible lack of quality in attack from starting eleven and the bench.

Hard to see where the goals are coming from.
