Great girl. More cojones than any of her contemporaries.

My thoughts exactly. I don't think she'd have opened the gates to our country the way these weak willed, morally corrupt thieving b******s have.
The one, the only, Margaret Thatcher. RIP

I refuse to believe there are that many people out there that can't spell. Too f**king lazy, that's what I think.

RIP Maggie. There's never been anyone who comes close enough to compete with you. You had 'balls' which others after you didn't. A great leader in our history.

Churchill?
William Pitt?

Disraeli
Attlee
Gordon Brown

Mary

Midge

That was more Ted Heath

My message behind my post is that all the rich have nothing bad to say about her cos she helped them out, while the poor got f***ed over. I know these people because I went to school with them.

The Conservative party have always been about benefiting the rich while the poor suffer. The problem with the poor is that they don't really trust any political party so they don't vote, they need to start voting cos the rich they get everyone and I mean EVERYONE in their families to vote, even the grannies.

Please understand, Thatcher was mainly voted in by the working classes....They make up the vast majority of any country.

I grew up in a Stockwell council estate in Brixton. I am working class and as a teacher I don't earn that much compared to many.

Sure Thatcher wasn't great in many ways but she was a damn sight better than the alternative.

You have no idea what state this country would have been in without her.

All the parties copy her now.

You're right and sure, I'm ok with you pointing mistakes out - it's how we improve.

For your good self, you typed my name incorrectly.

Ok tell us about her "greatness" - Help make us less ignorant

This country was on it's knees in th 70's, Margaret Thatcher, did something previous govs of both hues had failed to do and that was to make Britain competitive.

The EU rebate - now somewhat eroded, but redressed in part the inherent basket case that was the cap.

Instrumental in bringing around the end of the cold war by getting Gorby and Ron to work and trust each other.

Won a war - Falkland Islanders I'm sure will be forever grateful.

Two million manufacturing jobs lost
Unemployment from one million to three million
inflation 10 per cent when she came into power
inflation 10 per cent when she was booted out
Prolonged a war - in Northern Ireland - through instansigence and collusion
Closed down the most Grammar Schools (when Educ.Sec)
Sold off state companies very cheaply
Wasted North Sea Oil revenues in doing so
Signed us up to the ERM and , thus, Black Wednesday
And, of course, the Poll Tax

Plenty more

Far from great.

She did good stuff too but the destructive stuff outweighs it imo. The sh1t we see in our society today? A lot of that had its nascence from the 80's and that Government.

I am too young to remember Thatchers era, but if you were lower class like my family, you struggled, while the rich benefited. Heartless bitch, good riddance, I say.

Fair point...but for every one of you there will be tens whose familys in similar sitautions prosperd...i know because I was in one of them....

Wow 'tens' you say. Funny how she never managed to go higher than around 36 per cent vote during three won General Elections if so many, many did well.

I know because I was there.......watching Peter Snow and his old swingometer

it was well over 40% in 1983...but then again anyone could have beaten the labour party that year.

Yep - deffo wrong on that one. It was in the forties. I was getting mixed up with...... Wait for it.................Hitler in 1933
