Warnock makes Palace return

August 27 2014

Neil Warnock is the new Crystal Palace manager, signing a two year contract.

The Eagles have been searching for a new manager since the shock departure of Tony Pulis two days before the start of the season.

Various names have been mentioned in the past week including Malky Mackay, Tim Sherwood and Steve Clarke, but the Palace board have opted for a return to the club for Warnock who previously managed Palace between 2007-2010.

Warnock will take charge of the team straight away and will be in the dugout for the Newcastle game on Saturday.

The 65-year-old has been without a managerial job since leaving Leeds last April, but has been offered a third chance to take charge of a Premier League club.

He previously managed Sheffield United who suffered relegation on the final day of the season back in 2007, and QPR where he was axed in January 2012, with the Hoops sitting just above the relegation places.
