St James' Park, Tuesday 7.45pm
Youngster Jonathan Williams has a calf strain and is doubtful of playing, while Mile Jedinak and Jonathan Parr are on international duty with Australia and Norway respectively.
Summer signings Joel Ward, Aaron Martin and Aaron Wilbraham are in line to make their Palace bows and Peter Ramage could make his second Eagles debut after re-signing from QPR.
Exeter trio Alan Gow, Steve Tully, Craig Woodman, and Matt Oakley are all doubts.
Roy Hodgson
“Tonight’s team will pick itself. Some clubs can rotate their players but that is not true at this club. This year we will have a small squad and of the players that play tonight, everyone will probably start against Watford.
“We had some young players come through last year and I did use the cup to blood them in. But all of a sudden you’ll find that these are the players who will be in the team. Jon Williams is 50-50. We will have to see how he looks tonight."
