Manchester United v Palace

Old Trafford, Wednesday 7.45pm

Team news

Dougie Freedman will have to decide on whether to play a full strength side against Premier League champions Manchester United.

In previous rounds of the Carling Cup this season the Palace boss has opted to play a few of the fringe players, including Stuart O'Keefe, Lewis Price and Jon Williams.

With Williams out with a broken leg, it could mean game time for the likes Antonio Pedroza.

The Eagles have a Championship match against Derby only two days later so it will be interesting to see how Freedman lines his side up on Wednesday evening.

Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"We're looking forward to it. We've played some difficult teams like Crawley Southampton, Middlesbrough and Wigan," Freedman said.

"It's not about me testing myself. The players have earned the right to be here. They've earned the right to play at Old Trafford. The fans have stuck by us so it will be good for them as well.

"It’s always nice to go to Old Trafford and play. We're performing very well right now. All we can do is keep on doing what we can do. We're not playing for points, we're playing for a place in the semi-finals.

"Everybody's fine. One or two longer term injuries that are still there."

Sir Alex Ferguson

"There will be complete changes.".

"Chris Smalling has come back and I may be able to play him. He's still young and it'll be a young squad against Palace.

"The only area where I've got problems is centre midfield. It's possible I could play Pogba in there but we'll wait and see. I've got enough players to choose from, that's for sure."
