I know he's still on the club site but I assume Sakho is long gone and just not confirmed elsewhere.

Bench can't be right as we'd need Kelly to cover LB RB and CB - his normal role that is

I thought Olise was carrying an injury and won't make the first few games, in which case Ayew would probably take that spot

Also I'm not aware that Sakho is still here. Not heard anything about him being offered a contract, so that leaves Kelly as the only realistic CB for the bench, hence why we need another quality CB.

With Olise carrying an injury I guess this would be the strongest lineup. I'd be inclined to have Riedewald over Luka but there's not too much between them tbh.

Overall this highlights that although the above team could do ok, it does show that despite the decent start to the transfer window there's still a lot of work to be done.

For me I'd still like to see (I've listed players we've been linked with that are somewhat realistic and that I'd be happy with any combination of):

Another CB - Kabak/Nelson
Box to box CM - Gallagher/Cajuste
2 × Winger/AM - Rogers/Lookman/Christie

One of the above on Loan -likely Gallagher.
2nd LOAN- versatile fullback

If there's still money left (Big IF) then I'd go - ST - Edouard

So that's still at least 3 permanent signings and 2 loans to go... keep up the good work Dougie!

Mateta is already on loan - that limits what we can do there.

Although as he's a European loan this doesn't cause much of a problem.

Still got 2 domestic loans available.

I'd try loans of:
Gallagher
Then for fullback competition one of Maitland-Niles/Tanganga/Tsimikas/Aina

Plus I don't think there's a limit on number of loans from outside of the UK... never been quite sure on these rules.

My bad - this must be the Watford exception of course. Daft of me,

Not sure of the fullback need if we have both Ward and Clyne with Mitchell Hannam and Ferguson.

The two extra attackers looks ambitious but with AFCON perhaps you're right there once we lose both Zaha and Ayew.

My thinking at fullback is that Ferguson will at best only be fit at Christmas and he'll be coming off the back of 2 years of no football. So he's not going to provide any guarantees. The LBs are still relative rookies and the RBs ok if somewhat unspectacular. An addition of a low commitment loan could be useful...but it's a slightly lower priority than the other positions.

2 extra attackers is based upon Townsend leaving and Eze injured. Plus as you mention Zaha, Ayew and Schlupp could be off to Afcon. Despite having all of the above last season I still thought it was a position that needed strengthening so definitely does now unless we truly have faith in one of the youngsters.

I don't totally disagree...but i think you're being a big eager to ring in the changes. A lot of our problems last year involved our ageing CBs (Dann/Cahill). Tomkins/Guehi instantly solve this. Therefore the team above I'd say is a solid premier league team. Add in Olise and Eze and it takes it to a pretty decent one.

Personally don't want to see 5 more come in. It's too many and will be like watching a whole new team. Another 2-3 will do nicely (LB, CM and winger).

EFA (Well, edited by jobsworth)

I think I'd like to see Mateta used more, but he has to grow stronger INHO. I guess I don't run training and see what's really going on.

I think we may still see Kouyate in defence if required e.g. Tomkins injured, Guehi deemed not ready, Kelly not preferred.

I am guessing Vieira knows all about Senegal given that's his nationality and he will have every idea where to play Kouyate. This could be a big year for Cheikhou.

Ye I agree in regards to the CB pairing. All going well that'll be the pairing but we must still look to the future to provide competition for an aging and injury prone Tomkins (who I'm a big fam of).

From the 5 I'd like to come in I'd say only 2 would be to go straight into the lineup (CM and Winger) with the rest bedding in over time and providing stronger competition for the squad.

We have let a lot of squad players go which I think was the right decision but we'll certainly need those holes filled and hopefully in most cases with better players than those who've departed.
