So nice to see the players back. Wilf looks happy, Ayew speaking French to Vieira, Jimmy Mac back, Schluppy, Tomkins, Mitchell, Riederwald, Butland. No Guiata in the video, could still be in Spain, or quarantine. Same for Mateta & Luka (but not Spain). Benteke is probably getting a few weeks of holiday in. Other than that, just a bunch of young players. Everyone else is out of contract. Edited by Daddyorc (06 Jul 2021 6.24pm)

Patrick spoke very well in his first interview and was very assured! His confidence and presence in the the training video is there to see alongside in his interview he said we are one of the greatest teams in the premier league! Absolutely right Patrick !!!!!!!

Interesting that none of the out of contract players were training. I'd presumed some might be there for the first week or two. If the club opt to offer a new deal to any of them then they'll need fitness work behind them.

I'm sure it will be, but at some stage the club will have to decide whether any of the OOC players will be offered new deals, and unless they are certain that none of them will be, it would make sense to at least let them join in the fitness work now. Unless the players don't want to train without a contract of course.

I'm sure he's in the background of a couple of shots and on a couple of occasions you can hear Paddy and Derry shouting "clyney". Whether or not this means he is likely to get a contract, who knows! I wonder if there is an insurance element involved in this (just curious as to how out of contract players would be covered against injuries)- if so its probably something that fairly easily sorted out as most clubs have players in on trials at various times of the year. If they get paid for the month then surely any insurance cover still stands etc. I think CPFC can ask them to come in to train but they are not obliged - i remember a few who left over the years e.g. Clinton Morrison, just didn't turn up for pre season the club at that point realised they had left (he had been offered a new contract, so i suppose it's slightly different)!!

Why? Being paid for the month after they have officially left the club doesn't mean that they are still covered by the club's insurance
