Hi, Hope you don't mind me posting on here. I run a Grimsby Town nostalgia page on Twitter (the past is much better for us) @onthisgtfcday. I'm enquiring to see if Palace were filming in the 1986/87 season and there was footage anywhere of our 3-0 win at Selhurst Park on 8th November 1986. I am also led to believe that there is TV footage from the following games if anyone is able to help? 11th October 1975 CPFC 3-0 GTFC which was on LWT as The Big Match Also 15th January 1977 CPFC 2-1 GTFC which was on LWT at The Big Match or Football Special. Hopefully someone can help. Many Thanks Bruce

Hi Bruce If you go over to our nostalgia page there are a few old videos uploaded there. Not sure you'll find exactly what you want, but you might find a few sources for old footage that are worth exploring. Good luck.

We have beaten Grimsby Town 3-0 an astonishing five times, whereas in the dark days of the early eighties they beat us 3-0 twice at Selhurst. In the game on The Big Match David Fry launched a goal kick straight into a pidgeon flying across the pitch. Feathers everywhere!

I actually remember this game really well. I never missed a game back then, but had to miss this one because we booked a holiday in Malta. Youngsters won’t understand, but before mobile phones, the internet and cable/satellite TV, contact with home was difficult, you might as well have been on Mars if you went abroad. I had to wait to find out the result in the English papers, which were a day late in them days, so basically I found out we lost 3-0 at home to Grimsby two days after it happened. Not a good start to the holiday

Sorry Bruce, unable to help with any footage but the 1975 3-0 Palace game was a special moment for me. As a young Aussie kid, it was broadcast on The Big Match here and it was the 1st time I had ever seen any footage of Palace playing. It was marketed by TBM as 'A Day at the Palace' and I also recall (think I'm right), that GTFC were ordered by the ref to wear Palace's 2nd strip as he considered GTFC's stripes to clash with Palace' stripes - despite the contrasting colours of each strip. GTFC did not travel with their own 2nd strip. If I'm right (each way bet), might be interesting to see from GTFC's point of view. Maybe never happened before. Apologies if my memory has got it wrong. Good luck to your club.

It’s strange what you remember but I do recall us getting thumped at home to Grimsby the same day Grittar won the Grand National. I only remember it because I had backed Grittar to win. I thought that was nil 4 but may have been nil 3

Not a good start to the holiday Going back just a few years to the 1970s, you could be in outlying parts of the UK and not get to know the Palace result for days! We regularly stayed with relatives in Plymouth, where the morning papers (the 'early editions') would often have only the half-time scores from the previous evening and possibly (and laughably) a brief report on just the first half.

Yes if you went to a game and obviously missed the football results at the end of grandstand or world of sport, we had to wait till the Sunday papers to get the other results. I used to leave my mum a pen and pad to get her to scribble down as many as she could when I was on my way home from selhurst, she failed miserably every week bless her Edited by monkey (23 May 2021 11.44am)
