What a talent, but Hodgson's tactics are not getting the best out of him. Roy's obsession of defending deep and trying to hit teams on the break just isn't working. It's time to play to our strengths rather than just defending all the time. Eze is not a tackler and can't defend. He has attacking flair so give him the freedom to be the link up player we need in the middle. We need to play an interchangeable front three of Zaha, Ayew amend Eze in front of a solid 3 man midfield
Let's keep the ball this season! |

Why would Thomas Frank choose to leave Brentford? He has got them into a great position, potential to be promoted to the Premier League, with his own players in place. Why would he give that up to come to Palace, whose ambition extends to getting out of any cup competitions asap to concentrate on maintaining their status in the Premier league and not much more. Or am I missing something about the lure of Palace?

In the final analysis we don't play in a modern stadium with a capacity of 40,000+, we do not have a state-of-the-art training ground, we have only just achieved 'Category 1' academy status and we are not a club that is spending significant sums in the transfer market. Those who fervently disagree with me point to the fact that we are a PL club in London and that we would receive a whole host of applications for the managerial position if it became available. These same people have suggested that we could try and attract the likes of Tuchel, Allegri and Nagelsmann! In any event, there is no vacancy and I suspect there will not be for quite a while.

I agree that we could play Eze further forward and more central and get more from him, but I do also think his current role will teach him some discipline, as sometimes he gives the ball away cheaply which in the PL you are often punished for (something even Bruno Fernandes has been culpable of recently). As it is he often seems to have the freedom to drift inside against the lower-level teams anyway. He certainly looks much better when he has Wilf and Bentenke to play off though. Ayew works hard but doesn't seem to get his head up enough and often holds onto the ball too long. Providing he stays with us for a few years I think he'll grow into a star, especially if he starts asserting himself on games more. For QPR he had the ability to pick a pass over the top and with Mateta's pace that could be something we might see more of moving forward.

I agree. That also applies to potential players. We are always complaining that players we show an interest in are pinched from under our nose, but the reality is that we don't fair well in comparison to majority of other Premier League sides with what we have to offer. We don't have the feel of a forward looking club that has built on its 8 year tenure in the top league.
