How poor was that , and why is there an ex Arsenal player commentating on an Arsenal game. Palace were far the better team in the first half but he was loathed to say it. There is biased and there is biased, but he was incredible he only needed David O’Leary sitting alongside him to complete the Arsenal Jizz fest. Not sure what Smith would have said if we took the lead, I know “this is a very below par performance by Arsenal”

So, it was a good result last night, but let's be honest, it was a bit untidy. If Palace played with flair across the field and scored a few goals, I'm sure that commentators and pundits alike would be full of praise and enthusiasm. I'm no expert, no pundit nor commentator, but if I was, I would have made you all aware of my environment, my channel hopping and most importantly, the bottle of wine that I was consuming.

Don't know what anyone could really praise about us. Yeah we defended alright against a pretty average Arsenal side that didn't create much and we had more than one shot on goal but apart from that it was the same as usual. First half decent and then at half time was probably told your attacking too much drop deeper and be much more boring. They were there for the taking if only we had a manager who had a bit of belief in his team.

The manager told Tomkins to make sure that he hit the bar with his header and he slipped the Arsenal keeper a fiver to make sure that he saved from Benteke

ex Arsenal player doing the commentary and ex Arsenal player in the studio. Par for the course these days, but why don't Sky do 2 ex players, one from each club. Clinton Morrison would be an obvious choice as he already works for Sky.

The trouble with using ex players is that they tend to have tunnel vision and can only see one team on the pitch. I would rather have no ex players in the commentary team

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

I regret that I wouldn't trust a former referee to be objective. I still remember with bitterness that goal against Leeds (I think) many years ago which clearly crossed the line then was cleared - and disallowed. It was such a blatant refereeing error that the BBC actually brought on a retired official on the Today programme the following Monday to try to justify it. This guy was utterly shameless, pointing out that the ref had relied on the linesman, who couldn't see the ball because a player was obstructing his view. Yes, and the player obstructing his view was behind the goal line! So where was the ball?
