Which academy players do you think can be part of the first team:

Palace have a decent academy system (Zaha, Clyne, Moses, Mitchell, AWB)

Do you think any players could break into the first team in the next few years?

I think Banks, Pierrick and Sam Woods have a good chance. Nya Kirby also. But it is important for them to get some loan spells under their belt.

I think we could see Banks break into the team this season. He'll do well and be a big player for us if given the chance, in my opinion.

Kirby and woods haven't got a chance of breaking through, be the level below the 23s that will provide players.

There was great belief in the club for Luke Dreher back as far as when Pardew was manager.
He’s been very unlucky with injuries and I wonder if he’s in danger of missing the boat.
However, in the recent interview on the Palace website, Steve Parish gives him a name check and says the club still have high hopes for Dreher.

Who was the blonde kid who played in midfield, he came on during the last home game of the season a couple of years ago. Looked very promising

Think that was the aforementioned Dreher. Apparently a big talent who has had bad luck with injuries.

I agree that Banks is looking promising and may get a chance off the bench before the season ends depending on how we are placed.

Pierrick needs to make real progress this year in the U23s if he is to have a chance.

Am not convinced by Woods or Kirby yet.

Alfie Matthews looks promising - good skill and good football brain from the little I've seen of him.

As another poster has said, the U18s could provide a few potential players for the first team squad..

My concern is the lack of academy players going out on loan.

Kirby for instance had a spell at Blackpool you would hope that he would then have a loan spell at a bigger club in a better league.

I wonder if the injury situation early doors had an impact on that. Also I think at least one of our academy players wanted to stay with us rather than go out on loan. Perhaps the stiffer competition in the PL2 division now we have Cat 1 status may also have played a part in keeping our better academy players here especially as our U23s had a really poor season last year.

I’d like the Academy to produce a proper centre forward/striker.
In more than 50 years supporting Palace I can only think of three that have come through and had good careers - Ian Walsh, Dave Swindlehurst and Clinton Morrison.
Perhaps centre forwards and strikers are no longer in fashion as youngsters want to play Number 10, but I can recall when everyone wanted to play Number 9 and score a hatful of goals.
