Really like Jairo. His weight of pass is so superior to any other midfielder we have. Clearly wants to play football which is not surprising given his football education with Ajax. Worry I have is that he’s been so misused by Roy over his entire tenure Jairo May think stuff you and walk at the end of his contract. I think he may have 12months left, I could be wrong..

Anyway I think he’s a breath of fresh air and I thought today he’s taken on some of Roy’s key requirements of a central midfielder by his closing down and tackling today, which I don’t think is natural to him... even though he played in a 3 I believe at Ajax and for us in his forgetful first game against Huddersfield!

When you’ve played for Ajax how can you be surprised.. he can play in lots of positions as most Dutch players can.. thought he did brilliantly at full back.. sign him on a long contract., thought he was great today!

If he continues like today we will have a battle to keep the top six away.

There's a big difference this season in that he looks leaner and fitter.

Exciting. My big concern with Jairo was his fitness and athleticism, but his mobility -- his ability to get around the pitch to keep the engine room midfield ticking -- was top notch today. To see him run beyond Wilf for the goal was a wonderful sign. What's missing?

I feel very optimistic that, if he can stay fit, he will flourish.

I second the thoughts about getting him on a long contract. And I'm strongly of the view that Meyer is a similar story (and actually an even bigger potential).

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Have thought he's class almost every time I've seen him. Frustrating to think he could have been in the team for 2 seasons.

My thoughts, especially when after a shaky start at LB last season, he quickly improved and started to show what he can do. He was excellent pre-season this season and it was a shame he had that injury when he did which kept him out.

Hopefully he will become a fixture now in midfield with one of the older established players at his side (probably Luka unless he carries on his poor form of last season).

I have said this since he joined. You don’t go through the Ajax academy without having something about you. He looks leaner because he no longer wears a “ baggy “ shirt. We should give him a long contract now and build the new midfield around him. Funny how many Palace fans wrote him off.

Nah, it’s an illusion, his hair has just got bigger.

Seriously though he looks like someone who is naturally big and whilst he still tends to stroll a bit around the pitch, he does stroll into the right places and has picked up a yard of pace when he requires it.

He makes himself available for the ball and is comfortable receiving it and passing it. Might sound a bit odd but he could become our RLC.

All in all he could become an important player for us.

For me he always appeared slow and clumsy on the ball but was always able to pass the ball. For some reason this season although playing the same way he seems to always come away with the ball in a tackle. Still not totally convinced but I have to admit he has been very effective. I recall Mark Bright commentating on a game earlier in the preseason that he expected Jairo to feature more this season. Well it is happening and long may his effectiveness continue.COYP

Think at the end of the 2018/19 season, after an anonymous season, most of us expected him to leave and I don't think many of us would have cared too much.

Was impressed with his time filling in for PVA last season and even more impressed so far this season. Think he is our best midfielder now, links up well and also our best passer.

Turning out to be a very good signing IMO.
