The rule has not changed, the FIFA directive to change the interpretation has caused the problem.

VAR is good for deciding offsides and ball over line from technical view.

For incidents involving fouls it's absurd letting officials review in super slo mo where everything seems to look worse.

There was a stat on I think MOTD2 that the season after the interpretation changed in Europe, a year before England, the number of handball penalties in La Liga increased from 19 to 50 in one season, that's what we're heading for

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

VAR is gonna be good for corrupt VAR officials to help out the bigger clubs, thats what TV companies want and they pay the bills so thats what they get

It is if you support the notion of a players arm, toenail etc being offside....again, it's the interpretation of the rule that is at fault.

The introduction of VAR in the Premier League clearly didn't legislate for that fact that the poor standard of officiating on the pitch would extend to muppets like Anthony Taylor watching on a screen and still getting it wrong.

We are reaching a point now where just about every game has a VAR related incident involving handball and offside decisions. It's killing the game.

I thought the stat was, 19 pens in Prem from handballs last season compared to 50 in La Liga and 60 in Serie A. Just repeated this stat on Talksport.

But I do agree with you, the new interpretation that they've told the Prem refs to follow is gonna ruin the game we enjoy.
Imagine 26,000 spending their cash to travel to Selhurst to watch a well earned 1-0 win when in injury time up on the big screen is shown a penalty given for handball like the one given against Eric Dier! If that happened I know I'd be questioning if i'd really want to go much longer!

A different but contentious slant.
This change will surely mean that there are less subjective decisions. Crowds cant influence the ref if he has a rule to stick to. In effect this will make the game fairer which is what has been an issue for ages. We have had one for one against.
Manure one for one against. All teams will probably get a similar amount for and against. 3 games in is not long enough to judge if this is good or bad.
It may turn out to be the way to make the on pitch play fairer. Some players are cute enough to do a handball and make it look accidental. Ward could well have been deliberately trying to stop the ball as maupay may have. Clearly they wont admit it but players will try anything for an advantage.
It's in their nature as competitive sportsmen. 100k a week in the prem helps I'm sure!

Surely now, any attacking player has no longer the need to shoot at goal, just a simple head/chip/ blast or whatever of the ball so it touched by an opposition players arm .. in the penalty area, then happy days, slo mo VAR penalty given.

VAR is not fit for purpose to adjudicate marginal Offsides. There is a well publicised margin of error of up to 14cm on VAR offsides because of freeze frame technology. It absolutely cannot adjudicate on such minor infringements as armpits and toenails or 3cm calls, as we have seen previously, especially when adding in the line drawing which is not an exact science and subject to further human error.

Again in its current form it is simply not suitable and has caused outrage and dismay at numerous times since its introduction. They are currently looking at a number of options / proposals to try and improve the use of VAR for offside decisions.

The issue is clearly not with VAR but with the bellends running it.
VAR records what happens. That is all it does.

The people running football are and always have been dimwits.

100% agree. The biggest d1cks are the Premier League. Since they also took over the reffing, that too has got worse, miles worse. And it was f#cking awful before. It is also only the Premier League using VAR. They want it more like WWF or NFL or something. They are getting their wishes.

I have to say that unless they change this farce then I am not sure I will go back.
It is not a knee jerk reaction but given that we are not there currently and I dislike what I am seeing on TV I am just not sure I want to pay a fortune just to be disappointed further.
