Not far off what I'd say but I'd rest Ward and Mitchell as we have no back up for them if they were to get injured. Schlupp LB Woods RB

Eze and Bats 60mins max and Kirby over injured Riedewald.

Zaha I probably wouldn't play either.

Aren't Ferguson PVA sakho and benteke all still injured?
I'd play Townsend instead of wilf. Give him a rest for Manure..

Zero injury risks for good players please.

If we win but an important player gets injured, that's a big fail. Worse than a loss with a clean bill of health.

Play the kids.

I am pretty sure Jairo Ferguson and Benteke are injured and Hodgson said Sakho has only just come back into full training so won't be ready.

RH said after Saturday that he wants to rest as many of the team that played as he dare without letting ourselves be embarrassed in the match.

On that basis I reckon something like:

------Hennessey-----
Woods-Kelly-Kouyate-Mitchell
Kirby-Milivojevic-Meyer-Eze
---Batshuayi-Pierrick---

Subs

Henderson
Ward
Jach or Iniss
Schlupp
McCarthy
McArthur
Ayew

I don't expect either Eze or Batshuayi to play the full 90 as they will be required for Manure but do need some game time tomorrow. Possibly replaced by Schlupp and depending on state of the game, either Ayew or McCarthy. Don't expect Wilf will be risked (although he might want more shop window time - will be interesting that one).

Mitchell's a young lad and should be strong enough to cope with the workload. If he were to get injured then Schlupp is an adequate stand-in at LB.

It says it all when the only reason Roy won't put out the U23s is so we don't embarrass ourselves, suggesting so long as we only lose by one or two goals no one cares (which is probably true for many of us fans too).

A good chance to get match fitness up for the likes of Luka, Eze, Basthauyi and Meyer, while perhaps including a couple of youngsters.

Wayne

Woods Kelly Kouyate Tyrick

Andros Luka Meyer Eze

Pierrick Bats

It's possible we might see Schlupp up front though, given he played there a few times in preseason.

The B side that we put out at the Etihad is genuinely set up for a demolition job against City's B side so would be delighted if we lose tonight. The last thing we need in the next 6 weeks is additional fixtures.

If the carabao cup was optional entry this year, I'd be surprised if you got half the premier league turning up. There's no money in it, everyone has fixtures fixtures falling out of their ears and City continually demonstrate their ridiculous depth by constantly winning it.

Hennessey

Woods Kelly Jach Mitchell

Townsend (60 mins) Meyer Luka Eze (60 mins)

Batshuayi (60 mins) Pierrick

If Bats and Eze start alongside Meyer we might actually win this comfortably whether we want to or not. All three will be keen to try and earn a starting spot at United and I think they could link up well. Bournemouth will probably put out a weakened team with their focus likely to be on the league as well.
