Just thought i would see what everyone's thoughts for the starting team next season.
Even though most likely Roy will play 3 cdm, this is the team i would like to see play

Guaita
Ferguson Tomkins A new CB Van-Aanholt
McArthur Schlupp
Fraser Eze Zaha
A new striker

Cahill, Luka missing..harsh. Schlupp is not a DM or CM, when he has played there he has looked like a lost boy.

The Queen supports Crystal Palace. Perhaps she'll buy the club then legitimately all the money in England shall be ours. Plus all the swans.

Agreed it was harsh to leave them both out.

It was a tough pick between Tomkins and Cahill, but went for Tomkins in the end.

Put Schlupp in there as he brings a real injection of pace into midfield and is a goal scoring threat. Thought Luka was a bit off it last season.

More than a bit off BUT, at least he scores penalties! (not that we got that many last season with the advent of VAR and Wilf's dip in form. Defenders tend to be more wary of tackling in the box as well).

Roy plays 3 cdms last season because he had a lack of options given that Schlupp was injured for a good part of it and Meyer is too lightweight. Give him the ammunition (e.g. Loftus-Cheek) and he will use it. I expect him to use Eze.

Wouldn’t say we need a new centre back, we have 5 decent ones plus Kouyaté can do a good job there. Would have Kouyaté over Schlupp. Roy will probably play Luka there most of the season so lets hope he does a lot better than last season

It also completely omits our player of the season which is frankly astonishing.

Sick of keep seeing McArthur in our starting line up, good servant but we've got to move on. This is ridiculous, is he the best we can do after 7 years in the premiership?

Are you kidding me? One of the most consistently good performers for Palace over the last few seasons. One of the first names on the team sheet.

with the season less than 2 weeks away and a good number of our first team squad of last season injured, how are we likely to set up for our opening game v Soton?

My suggestion is basically the outfield team we saw start the match against Charlton

Guaita
Ward-Dann-Kouyate-Mitchell
McArthur-Riederwald
Townsend-Zaha-Eze
Ayew

It's possible that RH may decide to switch Eze to the right to replace Townsend and play Schlupp on the left. It may depend on which of them he sees as the better impact sub.

My dream team would look something like this. Similar system to what Poch used at Spurs. Diamond, with Jairo sitting deep, flanked by Townsend (or Fergason) and PVA. Eze at the top of the diamond, with Benteke and Wilf if he stays or Ayew.

Guiata

Tomkins----Sakho

Townsend - Jairo - PVA

McArthur - Milivoijevic

Eze

Benteke - Wilf/Ayew

Subs:

Hennessy
Kelly
Koyate
Schlupp
Meyer
Wickham
Ayew/kid
