He's been a decent squad player but nothing more. At 3m seems like we did good business, but I wouldn't be hugely upset if we sold him on at a profit and I certainly wouldn't miss his floaty set-pieces. We might see more of Jairo too. I'd miss McArthur more, despite his age, who I think was an outside bet for the POTY.

I've got to say that I have not really been impressed by McCarthy. We were chasing him for a few seasons as far as I know, but I don't really know why. Perhaps the nasty injuries he sustained whilst at Everton had an affect on him, but he seems to lunge in too early on a tackle, slightly recklessly. His yellow card count rivals Milovojevic. Perhaps we have been playing him out of position in that defensive to mid midfielder role? Sorry but I won't be crying my eyes out if he goes to villa for 5m.
