I was watching the MOTD documentary where they showed a clip of Ireland v Italy at the 1994 World Cup in the USA.
Apologies for the poor quality of the picture but can you see what is quite remarkable in it, or at least I thought so?

Ahh, three of our own

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

If West Ham won the World Cup did we beat the Italians!

Terry Phelan, Steve Staunton, Ray Houghton.
All decent players with a bit of heart too.
Had forgotten about the Staunton loan spell. Don't remember it going that well for some reason.

Possibly you're right. I have only one memory of Steve Staunton on loan, and that's him picking up a bad clearance from the goalie at the Whitehorse end, not much closer to the goal than the opposition dug-out, and calmly lofting the ball from at least 40 yards into the goal. Can anyone remember who that was against?

I have a feeling it was against Tranmere but could be well wide of the mark. It was a long time ago!

He came to us to get his fitness back and scored a goal from the halfway line. My memory is fuzzy but I thought he did well for us.

And Clint Hill popping up for Tranmere. Now there was a player you didn't f**k with when he was at Palace! And Sir Clinton of course. Unlike Wright who clearly has no real affection left for Palace as a club, Morrison always cheers me up when he's talking about Palace. Remember he was in the Irish squad for a while too.

I heard probably 10 years ago that he had been sent off 10 times!
He is currently Assistant to Joey Barton at Fleetwood.
